We are seeking an experienced Global Lead Buyer for Minerals and Trace Elements to coordinate purchasing activities for this category worldwide. The ideal candidate will acquire raw materials in a cost-effective and timely manner while maintaining alignment with divisional guidelines and global sourcing policies. 

Job Description:
As the Global Lead Buyer, your responsibilities will include:

1. Procurement strategy and sourcing plans for assigned sub-categories

  • Supports the development of the procurement strategy and related sourcing plans for a specific spend sub-category for Trouw Nutrition and, if applicable, Skretting, worldwide or in a specific region. Sourcing plans can include regional specific plans, are consistent with corporate policies (like sustainable sourcing) and are formally reviewed on an annual basis;
  • Implements the approved sourcing plans for specific sub-categories or products at global scale or in a specific region;
  • Initiates and leads improvement and/or corrective actions where needed. Overall accountable for the purchase performance of a selection of subcategories or products;
  • Actively monitors and anticipates supply market and supplier developments in order to optimize the competitive sourcing position of the business on the medium and longer term.

2. Performance management

  • Monitors and optimizes the purchase performance of the sub-category / product sourcing activities at global, regional (cluster) or local level (OpCo). Takes corrective actions when necessary;
  • Ensures the sub-category or product range delivers its annual Goals and specific category KPI’s;
  • Initiates and manages structural sourcing improvement projects after approval by the procurement category manager;
  • Coordinates all the necessary global/regional actions in case of major sourcing issues (quality, volume, commercial/price);
  • Ensures compliance with Corporate Policies.

3. Supplier and Contract Management

  • Develops and manages key supplier relationships, as part of the business approved sourcing plans;
  • Manages the ongoing business cycles of supplier selection, negotiation and contracting for selected raw materials and related suppliers, within the frameworks as defined in the approved sourcing plans;
  • Ensures adequate contract management: available, accessible and traceable. Implements and manages overall framework agreements with all main suppliers within the sub-category / product range;
  • Optimize contract balance management and contract allocation to OpCo’s within a certain region;
  • Coordinates actions between OpCo’s and maintains effective and professional relationships with both current and potential suppliers;
  • Apply vendor rating for internal and external benchmarking, within the framework of globally provided (system) solutions.

4. Data and purchasing process management

  • Ensures collection and analysis of spend, supply market and supplier data for optimising sourcing plans and related improvement actions;
  • Ensure purchasing processes and practices are analysed correctly to gain insight in the drivers of efficient and effective purchasing;
  • Manage data (e.g. Master Data) in (procurement/ERP) systems in order to deliver consistent management information and purchase performance;
  • Effective and efficient management of all operational and tactical purchasing processes to ensure data and contracts are available on time-in full for the relevant OpCo’s, irrespective whether the supply is organized directly from a supplier to an OpCo or via one of the central procurement legal entities;
  • Consistent and high quality reporting of supply market and price developments, also as an essential building block (Raw Material Market Costs) for OpCo’s to optimize their sales pricing;
  • Ensures that purchasing processes are executed in line with legal and ethical code of conducts and respecting the applicable authorisation levels.
  • Ensure compliance with legal, ethical and sustainable code of conducts;

5. Maximize business profitability through:

  • Support of the development of category sourcing plans for assigned spend sub-categories / product(s) under the overall accountability of a Category Manager;
  • Execution of the approved sourcing plan(s) for a selected sub-category / product(s) at global and local scale
  • Ensure business continuity by securing supplies on the short, medium and longer term;
  • Enable Clusters/Regions and OpCo’s to be competitive in their respective customer markets through an effective and efficient management of supplier negotiation, selection and contracting, which covers the immediate and future needs of the businesses;

Job Requirements:

  • A master’s degree with a minimum of 3 years of experience, or an experienced Bachelor's degree holder.
  • At least regional experience in procurement and supply chain management.
  • Demonstrated experience in sourcing, supplier management and resource management for a global organization is desirable.
  • Strong business acumen and strategic thinking skills.
  • Fluent in English with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong negotiation abilities with a demonstrated capacity to engage suppliers for complex problem-solving.
  • Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships across various functions.
  • Proficient in conducting cost price analyses and make-versus-buy evaluations.
  • Ability to think both strategically and tactically with attention to detail.
