Legal Counsel

Location: Hybrid/ Work from home with travel into London Head Office

Closing Date: 8th November 2024

               

Are you looking to make the move from private practice to in-house or to gain experience in a new industry? 

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our close-knit legal team as Legal Counsel on a permanent basis.

This role will suit an enthusiastic team player who is thoughtful and interested in having a varied and engaging workload. The position is London based with incredible office views of the city skyline. Coming out of the pandemic, we are currently hybrid working, going into the office one or two days a week, although the office is open all week if required.

The role

As Legal Counsel you will provide advice and assistance to all areas of the business and report directly to the General Counsel & Company Secretary, with support from other members of the legal team.

What you will be doing:

  • Providing commercially focused legal advice in a timely manner

  • Reviewing, drafting and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts (ranging from NDAs to apprentice agreements, student placement agreements, license agreements and services agreements)

  • Providing legal support on ad-hoc projects, corporate governance, compliance and other business development opportunities

  • Assisting on Data Protection Act and UKGDPR matters

  • Assisting with patient complaints and other disputes that arise within the commercial, employment and regulatory aspects of the business

  • Legal Research - advising on legal developments and regulatory changes and updating the business on these through training

  • Maintaining Legal Team know-how, precedents and templates

  • Supporting senior lawyers within the team on more complex matters

  • Minute taking at various company meetings

What you will bring:

  • PQE with experience of corporate and commercial law

  • Training at a leading UK or international law firm or well-regarded in-house legal team

  • Strong understanding of contract law

  • Ability to communicate effectively in group settings and before senior management

  • Well organised and able to work to deadlines managing a number of projects simultaneously

  • A general understanding of risk management

  • Awareness of, or interest in the healthcare sector
