Global Provider Strategy – Provider Risk and Performance

Global Provider Strategy Role: BlackRock has strategic relationships with dozens of key Provider Banks integral to our business operations. These institutions perform core fund accounting, custody, financial reporting and transfer agency services for BlackRock and our clients, critical to our daily operations. Our relationships with these Providers are long-term, are both strategically and operationally complex and are financially material to the firm’s overall performance. We work with many of the most significant Service Providers in the post-trade asset servicing industry.

GPS drives strategic alignment between BlackRock and Post Trade Partners through dynamic relationship and risk management. GPS is responsible for BlackRock's post-trade relationship strategy with our custodians, fund administrators and transfer agents. We craft strategic optionality and assure the delivery of high-quality service at an attractive price.

The Role

Join GPS within the Provider Risk & Performance team. Primary focus is establishing and deploying risk management strategies for service providers. Evolving risk governance program to meet global regulations and collaborate with internal partners for critical initiatives.

Responsibilities
  • Partner with teams across BlackRock to help ensure that provider risks are understood and are consistent with BlackRock objectives and risk methodologies.
  • Work closely with RQA (Risk & Quantitative Analysis) and collaborators across Technology & Operations to develop risk centric programs that protect our firm, funds, and clients.
  • You actively address systemic risks, applying significant metrics and holding providers accountable for service excellence.
  • Develop positive relationships with key BlackRock groups and leaders ensuring governance programs are fully understood and embraced.
  • Construct documents and presentations to be used with regulators, fund boards, and BlackRock’s risk constituents, presenting our program and associated findings.
  • Participate in cross functional working groups in the set up and creation of new products with a focus on provider risk profile and capabilities.
  • Lead and prioritize process re-designing initiatives to deliver greater scale and expand our programs across the technology and operations ecosystem.
  • Develop key provider data and metrics that deliver significant insights and drive data driven decisions.
  • You use data effectively to help build risk and relationship dashboards & support a technology vision for team.
  • You stay ahead of industry developments & regulation to ensure BlackRock is well positioned to use the scale of our business model.

Key proficiencies required for success in this role include:
  • BS/BA degree in accounting, finance, economics or a related quantitative field.
  • 5+ years of relevant investment industry, data analytics, or audit/consulting experience.
  • Analytical ability to synthesize information and summarize issues. Attention to detail and ability to prioritize the most critical business issues.
  • Highly effective oral and written communication skills. Intellectual ability and interpersonal skills to establish credibility with senior managers and their teams globally.
  • Results driven, with a high degree of self-motivation.
  • Inventive, dedicated teammate, able to work with people of all levels.
  • Ability to prioritize, handle several tasks in a professional, fast-paced environment, and solve situations with a risk-based methodology.
  • Strong cross team relationship-building skills, capable of adapting style of communication to audiences of different technical knowledge and backgrounds.
