What You'll Do
Avalara is looking for a
Technical Lead, You will be a well-rounded software engineer with experience delivering software at scale in an Agile environment, and excel.
Avalara is the worldwide leader in sales and use tax calculation.

- Design scalable software components
- Design integrations with other systems at Avalara and with external partners.
- You will participate in an Agile development team - including design, test automation, planning, backlog refinement and support.
- You will be a part of innovation culture and find ways to improve processes and services.
- Implement best practices for coding and development processes
- Support and develop software engineers by providing advice and mentoring
- Work with the Product Managers to refine user stories
- Build features from beginning stage through production deployment and operation
- Maintain overall product quality by fixing bugs and improving performance
- You will perform code reviews and ensure coding standards
What You'll Need to be Successful
- 7+ years software development experience in Java and .NET, we also have details of the product in node.js, python, and other technologies. So, experience and willingness to use a broad set of technologies while claiming product expertise in Java / Spring-boot is a real plus with us.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer, science, or engineering.
- Experience in engineering for developing available and fault tolerant software in a SaaS cloud environment. (AWS, GCP, Azure).
- Experience in designing and building scalable micro service architecture.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server/ any other RDBMS, Entity Framework.
- Working knowledge of Web Services, REST APIs, Event-driven solutions.
- Working knowledge of containerization tools like Docker, Kubernetes
- Working knowledge of JIRA,
- Working knowledge of source control tools such as GitLab, CI/CD.
- Experience with Infrastructure as code i.e. Terraform
- 2+ years of experience with AWS cloud platforms.
- Experience working in product-based organization
