What You'll Do

Avalara is looking for a Technical Lead, You will be a well-rounded software engineer with experience delivering software at scale in an Agile environment, and excel.

  • Design scalable software components
  • Design integrations with other systems at Avalara and with external partners.
  • You will participate in an Agile development team - including design, test automation, planning, backlog refinement and support.
  • You will be a part of innovation culture and find ways to improve processes and services.
  • Implement best practices for coding and development processes
  • Support and develop software engineers by providing advice and mentoring
  • Work with the Product Managers to refine user stories
  • Build features from beginning stage through production deployment and operation
  • Maintain overall product quality by fixing bugs and improving performance
  • You will perform code reviews and ensure coding standards


What You'll Need to be Successful

  • 7+ years software development experience in Java and .NET, we also have details of the product in node.js, python, and other technologies. So, experience and willingness to use a broad set of technologies while claiming product expertise in Java / Spring-boot is a real plus with us.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer, science, or engineering.
  • Experience in engineering for developing available and fault tolerant software in a SaaS cloud environment. (AWS, GCP, Azure).
  • Experience in designing and building scalable micro service architecture.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server/ any other RDBMS, Entity Framework.
  • Working knowledge of Web Services, REST APIs, Event-driven solutions.
  • Working knowledge of containerization tools like Docker, Kubernetes
  • Working knowledge of JIRA,
  • Working knowledge of source control tools such as GitLab, CI/CD.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as code i.e. Terraform
  • 2+ years of experience with AWS cloud platforms.
  • Experience working in product-based organization
