The Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated Copy Writer Mid-Level with experience creating campaigns to join our growing in-house team.  In this role you will effectively conceptualize, create, and edit written content for application across multiple audiences and channels, including broadcast, radio, digital, social, print media and business initiatives.

We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in the following location: San Antonio TX.

Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

What you'll do:

  • Creates new, and/or re-purposes existing, written content for use across channels and audiences.
  • Collaborates with creative and business partners to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Understands and practices principles and guidance outlined in USAA brand, content, and style guidelines.
  • Contributes to and helps deliver on simultaneous assignments.
  • Uses knowledge of industry and subject area best practices, as well as professional experience, to ensure business objectives are met.
  • Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.

What you have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, English, Journalism, or a related field; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • 4 years of writing or editing experience within print, digital and/or video media.
  • Proven track record in written communication skills, including advertising, business and persuasive writing.
  • Proficient ability in editing, conscientious of structure, grammar, style and tone.
  • Experience understanding and following brand and style guidelines for written communications.
  • Proficiency in work-related tools, processes and software.

What sets you apart:

  • Digital Portfolio Required (PDF or online).
  • In-house or Ad agency experience.
  • Experience in the financial services industry.
  • US military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner.

What we offer:

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location. The salary range for this position is: $74,210 - $141,830.

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
