Job description

DIRECTV is seeking a seasoned tax professional responsible for managing complex tax issues, providing expert advice, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, local, and applicable foreign tax laws and regulations. The Lead Tax Analyst role requires creative problem-solving skills, in-depth tax knowledge, and the ability to lead and complete tax projects efficiently. In this role you will work closely with leadership to provide strategic tax insights and support the organization's financial objectives.

Here's what you’ll do:

  • Lead and manage tax projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality results.
  • Conduct comprehensive tax research to advise management on tax implications of various business activities and transactions.
  • Conduct and document moderately complex tax audits, identifying areas of risk and opportunity.
  • Analyze complex tax issues and develop creative solutions to minimize tax liabilities and maximize tax benefits.
  • Provide guidance and support to team members on tax-related matters.
  • Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations, assessing their impact on the organization and recommending appropriate actions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure tax considerations are integrated into business decisions.
  • Prepare and present tax-related reports and recommendations to management.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external tax advisors and regulatory authorities.

What you’ll need to be successful:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Master's degree in Taxation preferred.
  • CPA certification required; additional certifications such as EA or JD are a plus.
  • 3 – 5 years of experience in tax accounting, with a focus on corporate taxation.
  • In-depth knowledge of federal, state, local, and international tax laws and regulations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop creative tax solutions.
  • Excellent research skills and the ability to interpret and apply complex tax laws and regulations.
  • Proficiency in tax software and Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Oracle ERP systems is a plus.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex tax concepts to non-tax professionals.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in work product.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong ethical standards and commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
  • Experience in a deadline-oriented environment with the ability to prioritize and manage time effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise judgment within broadly defined tax practices and policies.
  • May require a background check due to job duties requiring routine access to DIRECTV and DIRECTV customer’s proprietary data. Qualified applicants with arrest and conviction will be considered for employment in accordance with local ordinances and state law.

The Base Salary range displayed below reflects the minimum and maximum target salary for each of DIRECTV's 4 (four) US Labor Market Zones. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

DIRECTV WAGE ZONES: $87,400 - $158,700

Low (N1): $87,400 - $131,100

Mid (N2): $92,000 - $138,000

High (N3): $101,200 - $151,800

Top (N4): $105,800 - $158,700
