Job Title: Staff Accountant

Hello! Our client is in need of a staff accountant! This position will be an on-site role with a large manufacturing organization here in Jacksonville, FL. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in general ledger accounting, preparing financial statements, and manufacturing accounting experience! Our client is open to candidates who are very strong general ledger accountants with no cost accounting experience as well!

Job Description

  • Prepares monthly balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements.
  • Performs general cost accounting and other related duties for the organization.
  • Prepares month-end closing entries for the recording of all cost accounting activities.
  • Analyzes manufacturing variances, preparing written explanations supporting the monthly forecast.
  • Tracks, analyzes, and reports departmental costs, both actual and standard. Works closely with department managers to understand actual and forecasted departmental costs.
  • Maintains the general ledger.
  • Participates in the implementation of automated systems to improve accounting functions.
  • Sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts, and assists in closing the monthly books.
  • Reconciles bank accounts, verifies bank activity as necessary, and addresses inquiries from banks.
  • Reconciles cash disbursement accounts, payroll, customer accounts, and other financial accounts.
  • Verifies and/or completes payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
  • Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.
  • Files tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies as necessary.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to improve proprietary tools and systems, complete projects, and identify and address areas of opportunity.
  • Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelors in Accounting or Finance
  • Manufacturing / Cost accounting experience is a huge plus
  • 3+ years of general ledger accounting experience
  • Highly proficient in excel utilizing pivot tables and VLOOKUP's
  • Highly analytical mindset - Preparing financial statements and some analysis
  • Detailed oriented
