Job Overview

Join our esteemed team as a Math Tutoring Center Project Specialist, where your enthusiasm for mathematics and commitment to student achievement can truly make an impact. This remote role involves close collaboration with students and faculty from the Mathematics Department, providing critical support in mathematics and related courses. You will lead a dedicated team of instructional assistants and peer tutors, cultivating an environment that promotes learning and development while assisting with computational mathematics software in our computer labs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the daily operations of the Math Center, ensuring it remains a welcoming and productive space for all students.
  • Lead the recruitment, training, and scheduling of staff members, guiding them to deliver customized instruction in various formats, including in-person, online, and hybrid models.
  • Conduct assessments to identify learning gaps and develop tailored learning plans for students.
  • Foster strong relationships with students and faculty, delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Collaborate with the Director to monitor and enhance key performance metrics, focusing on student success and retention in mathematics courses.
  • Support tutoring operations by coordinating academic support services both remotely and on campus.
  • Assist students in setting realistic academic goals and developing effective study strategies through coaching and tutoring.
  • Collaborate with the Director to create informational and marketing materials that promote tutoring services within the institution.
  • Partner with the Director and Institutional Research to evaluate and report on student academic progress in mathematics.
  • Prepare necessary reports and participate in staff meetings and departmental activities as assigned.

Required Skills

  • In-depth understanding of mathematics concepts including introductory levels, differential equations, linear algebra, geometry, and statistics.
  • Familiarity with teaching methodologies, techniques, and proficiency in relevant software applications.
  • Dedication to fostering an inclusive educational environment that respects diverse student backgrounds.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational abilities, along with advanced computer literacy.

Qualifications

  • A master’s degree in Mathematics or Applied Mathematics is required, or a bachelor’s degree combined with a master’s degree in Statistics, Physics, or Mathematics Education, or an equivalent qualification.
  • Previous management or leadership experience is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with standard mathematics software such as Knewton, Connect Math, or MyLab Math is highly desirable.
