Xybix Systems is searching for a Design Manager to join their team!


At Xybix Systems, we bring healthy furniture layouts to ‘mission critical’ environments nationally. What that means is, we design 911 dispatch centers (supporting fire, police, and sheriff departments), utilities and transportation control rooms, and security surveillance rooms for casinos. You see, we serve those who serve others.


JOB SUMMARY: This individual is responsible for bringing leadership and development to the design team and effectively managing and overseeing all projects, initiatives, and processes in the design department. They will develop quality products and produce accurate quotes in a timely manner. The Design Manager solely drives the company’s achievement of its furniture designs for their projects and those of the team they manage. 


PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS - MANAGEMENT:

  • Manages internal critical projects or company initiatives in addition to primary job functions of Designer.
  • Efficiently manages a team of designers to complete internal critical projects or initiatives. 
  • Pre-Design and Programming: Interpret customer needs using consultative skills with; Sales Associate (Territory Manager) on daily basis, phone meetings with client, and at on-site meetings as needed.
  • Coordinate with Territory Manager: Participate in the consultative sales experience for the Customer, update all interaction in our Salesforce CRM.
  • Concept and Schematic Design Phase: Development of innovative design concepts that address the workflow, user needs, brand identity and mood of the workspace.
  • Design Development Phase: Space planning based on customer needs and room constraints, furniture product solutions and application in AutoCAD, Visual Impressions, or Revit. 
  • Bids and Quoting: Develop furniture specification in form of Company Quote and/or RFP development and delivery.
  • Design Implementation Phase: Produce drawings, 2D/3D, prepare specifications.
  • Customer Relationship Phase: Conduct online interactive meetings, revise and update all drawings and quotes, and secure sign-off drawings after business is closed.
  • Focus is national in scope but managed locally.

SECONDARY JOB FUNCTIONS - DESIGN:

  • Complete the following Designer II tasks including Create Drawing, Revise Drawing, Post Install Drawing Revision, Create Quote, Send/Get Finishes, Create Signoff Cable Selection Form, Get Cable Sheet Signoff, Create Signoff Drawing, Get Drawing Signoff, Manage Finish Library
  • Complete Designer III tasks include Quote Check, Reconfigure Projects, Create Hole Location Plan, Draft and Quote 2-Hi Monitor Upgrades, Project Manage and Design Large Projects (20 workstations or larger), and maintain a close ratio of 60% or higher.
  • Complete Senior Designer tasks including, Management and Sending Bid Packages, Yellow Folder Quality Checks, Reconfigure Projects with older models and Furniture Move, Folder Organization, Work as a Training Lead, BIM Management and Marketing Projects as needed, and Engineer Department Interface for Product Development as directed.
  • Execute timely management of your teams’ timecards, PTO requests, work-from-home qualifications, and oversee general performance.
  • Support the Director of Design in department-wide planning, growth, and continuous improvement projects.

CUSTOMER SCOPE AND CATEGORY

  • Client locations cover North America, but projects and customers are managed locally from our Littleton, CO offices.
  • The category of work includes Dispatch, Healthcare, Command & Control, Energy & Utilities, Government, and General Industry.

TOOLS, TRAINING, AND SUPPORT

  • Xybix will provide in our Littleton office, a height-adjustable workstation with privacy panels, heating/cooling features, a 42” monitor with an additional 24” portrait monitor for admin, and all tools and software for your position.
  • This hybrid role allows work-from-home and work-in-office schedules. You will work in-office full-time during training for the first 90 days. Upon manager’s approval, you will then be able to work in office as few as 2 days/week 
  • Xybix will enroll you in our Training Platform which includes On-boarding training, mentored training, product training (live and on-line), annual reviews, and annual rewards events.
  • Marketing, Customer Support, Sales, Installation, Executive Leadership, and the VP of Sales will provide the needed information required to ensure you are competent and fully equipped to service our customers at the highest level and execute your assigned projects.


Requirements

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in interior design. 

6+ Years’ experience in Interior Design.

2+ Years’ experience in Management 

NCIDQ certification preferred but not required.

Expert proficiency in Autodesk Revit with version 2024. 

Expert proficiency in space planning.

Expert proficiency in ADA and common code requirements.

Expert proficiency in AutoCAD.

Expert proficiency in Enscape or other rendering software.

Extensive Project Management experience.

Commercial furniture industry experience highly preferred but not required.


Skills & Abilities:

Excellent organizational and communication skills (both writing and verbal)

Ability to handle multiple concurrent projects and compressed lead times

Solid writing skills and highly proficient presentation skills

Ability to identify and distinguish colors

Ability to travel local or long distance (overnight stay is rare but occasional)

Ability to stand or sit at a desk for extended periods of time

Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and staff to create a result driven, team-oriented environment.

POSITION STATUS: Full-time / Exempt 

SALARY RANGE: $75k-85k, depending on experience

SHIFT: 8:00am – 5:00pm or 7:00am - 4:00pm (flexible)
