What can you expect in a Director of Data Science (Business Intelligence and Data Analytics)

Imagine yourself going to work with one thing on your mind: that you will spend your day applying business knowledge to analytics projects and providing value-added insights to directly impact TaskUs business outcomes. As you tackle your new tasks for the day, you know that it comes down to one thing: that you will be responsible for the statistical analysis and interpretation of customer-related data with the goal of finding root causes and communicating them in compelling data driven stories.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide business analytics and insights leadership, along with strategic direction, to aligned business stakeholders to help them make data-driven decisions.
Lead and mentor the Business Insights and Data Science Team.
Deliver process-related insights and improvements by collaborating with functional teams, define key operational metrics and dashboards to increase operational efficiency (e.g., reduced costs, reduced manual touches) and distill complex data analyzes into actionable information.
Partner with the data visualization team to stay current and leverage new data points and delivery tools; drive awareness of data availability and promote best practice sharing.
Required Qualifications:
12 years + of experience in business analytics, big data, and machine learning, along with people leadership and development experience in a BPO or similar fast-paced industry
5 years of experience working with data analysis tools (R or Python), SQL, Power BI, and techniques (machine learning, statistical analysis, and data mining) is an advantage
Excellent analytical and quantitative skills coupled with strong communication, presentation, and influencing skills.
Ability to use data and metrics to test hypothesis, confirm assumptions, generate insights/recommendations, and measure success
Can partner across a wide array of internal business groups, executive stakeholders and execution partners with ability to build solid relationships with individuals at all levels.
Demonstrated ability to extract business insights from large datasets and use them to drive business change.
Self-starter with a strong passion for using data to influence business decisions and strategy investments.
Proven impact and influence skills - ability to work broadly across disparate groups to gain agreement on direction, integrate disparate opinions into cohesive strategy/message and present/defend recommendations.
Ability to deal with ambiguity and navigate uncertain situations to drive for clarity; work calmly and maintain good judgment in fast-paced, high-speed environment
Education / Certifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Statistics, Computer Science or other related field is required
