ViX is the 2-year-old streaming platform with a mix of tv-shows, movies, sports and live news. The platform is growing rapidly as the leading Spanish language streaming platform in the world and is already profitable. It has been recognized as Apple TV's App of the Year. TelevisaUnivision owns and creates the largest library of Spanish content in the world and has the rights to a lot of soccer content from all over North and Latin America but also the European Championship, Champions League, Copa America, and more.

The Amsterdam, Netherlands based team of streaming platform ViX is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Back-end Software Engineer to dual report into the lead Customer API (CAPI) team and the R&D team of the streaming platform ViX.

The role reports first into the Customer API team which manages the API’s that run all large user personalization efforts of our client and marketing teams. Being part of that team you are responsible for delivering resilient and low-latency APIs that power our client platforms and partners. Your team focuses on bringing personalization for the users of our Streaming Video Service. The team is distributed across different locations in the world. The Customer API team works on the API layer that ties together multiple sources and ML/AI models that drive insights on our users. The output of all these combined models and sources is brought together in our Experience Engine and transformed into useful output. This output will be used by all our clients and third-party apps to drive better personalization across the streaming experience. Examples of output are user information like churn potential, upsell potential, sports preferences, persona, life-time value and more. Together with the CAPI team you would define, build and improve this Engine while collaborating with other internal teams, business stakeholders and with our Partners.

The second team you report into is the R&D team. This team is mostly based in the Amsterdam office and is one of the teams that builds AI/ML models and generates output that can help fuel the platform. You will work closely with this team to help them bring the output of the models into the back-end systems of the company. You should have an open mindset and align with the experimental process of the R&D team. In the long term one of your key responsibilities will be to design, build and maintain the integration layer of all the R&D services into the larger back-end architecture of the streaming platform.

ABOUT YOU:

  • You have a track record of consistently delivering high-quality work and are comfortable with an iterative and frequent release cycle.

  • You possess confidence in your abilities, yet you remain humble and open-minded, willing to reconsider your opinions and adapt when presented with new information.
