We are looking for a skilled Database Engineer to join our team at an innovative insurance brokerage. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust database solutions that support our business operations and data analytics initiatives.

How You Will Contribute

  • Collaboration with developers, system administrators, and other IT professionals to ensure the database meets organizational needs. 

  • Create and modify database objects, including tables, views, functions, and stored procedures.

  • Design and deliver solutions for data pipelines, data integration, data transformation, analytics, reporting and modeling in a cloud environment.

  • Load data in various formats from various providers into Data Bases on Azure.

  • Assembling large, complex sets of data that meet functional and non-functional business requirements.

  • Experience in end-to-end Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) projects.

  • Implement and maintain regular database backups. 

  • Develop and test disaster recovery plans. 

  • Monitor database performance and identify bottlenecks for improving overall system performance by optimizing SQL queries and database configurations. 

  • Manage user access and permissions, ensuring data confidentiality. 

  • Perform routine database maintenance tasks, such as index optimization and data purging. 

  • Maintain documentation of database configurations, processes, procedures, & schema diagrams. 

Skills & Experience to Be Successful

Required:
 

  • A bachelor's degree in computer science or information technology 

  • 7+ years of experience as a Database Professional 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products including Visio 

  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, including various versions such as SQL Server and Azure SQL Database. 

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Azure services related to SQL databases, such as Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, Data Bricks, Azure Blob Storage. 

  • Highly skilled in SQL, relational databases, Azure Data Factory

  • Understanding of database design principles, normalization, denormalization, and SQL Query Plan Optimization. 

  • Knowledge of database backup and recovery strategies, with Transparent Data Encryption (TDE), including Azure-based solutions. 

  • Experience in BI tools such as Qlik and Power BI.

Preferred:

  • Experience engineering, implementing, and supporting data solutions in Azure.

  • Experience working with Agile/Scrum methodologies.

  • Experience with building CI/CD pipelines on Azure DevOps.

  • 12+ years of related work experience.

  • Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure Data Engineer Associate, Azure Database Administrator Associate, or equivalent certification(s).

  • Experience in the insurance industry and/or basic knowledge of insurance.

Pay Range

$125,000 - $140,000 Annual

The pay range provided above is made in good faith and based on our lowest and highest annual salary or hourly
rate paid for the role and takes into account years of experience required, geography, and/or budget for the role.
