Position:  Premium Audit Specialist

Department: Underwriting

Location: California – remote (Home-based)

SUMMARY/DESCRIPTION:

The position reports to the Director of Premium Audit.  Conducts premium audits (both Physical & Virtual) on accounts written by the MidCorp and Entertainment business units of simple to moderate complexity.  Handling of audit disputes is also contemplated in the role.  This is an expert level role.  A desire to learn about all of the Arch specific business units and intricacies of these policies and the related exposures is expected.  Must possess the ability to read and interpret the coverages (Workers Compensation, General Liability, and Commercial Auto).

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Arranging premium audit appointments with insureds and/or brokers.
  • Reading policies to determine exposure basis for each policy.
  • Communicate with insureds, agents/producers, and underwriters as required for the information necessary to complete accurate audits and securing that documentation from those parties.
  • Perform examination of policyholders' payroll, accounting and financial records to insure accurate calculation of earned premium for customers.  Analyzes existing data, ISO rules, industry and statutory materials, and claims.
  • Actively working in the NEXUS premium audit system to pick up and complete assigned audits.  As well as working in the Nexus Management tool to research issues, manage workloads and keep audit statuses up to date.
  • Reviews changes in exposure such as alterations of the operations, products or services, additional or deleted classifications, new construction, additional locations, etc., and communicates this information to the underwriter.
  • Direct interaction with Insureds, Brokers, Agents & Underwriting teams to answer questions about the audit process or results.
  • Responds to and resolves audit disputes and makes appropriate changes to revise audits as needed.  Compiles pertinent facts related to disputes, documents and communicates the results of the analysis, and prepares amended audits and submits for billing.
  • Perform other premium audit related duties as required or requested by management.

  • Prior premium audit experience required;

  • Strong communication and organizational skills;
  • Ability to work independently;
  • Current driving license with good driving record & ability to travel;
  • Ability to multi-task and meet agreed upon expectations;
  • Expert computer skills including the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel)

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree or 5 years of Premium Audit experience in lieu of a degree.  Concentration in Accounting, Finance, Insurance or a related field is preferred. 
  • Premium Auditing experience at either an insurance carrier or a premium audit vendor is required.

For individuals assigned or hired to work in California, Colorado, Hawaii, Jersey City, NJ; New York State; and/or Washington State, the base salary range is listed below. This range is as of the time of posting. Position is incentive eligible.

$99,052 - $134,012/year

  • Total individual compensation (base salary, short & long-term incentives) offered will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to geographic location, scope & responsibilities of the role, qualifications, talent availability & specialization as well as business needs.  The above range may be modified in the future
