We are looking for a driven, smart and confident Full-stack Developer to join our team on a Part-time basis - 20 hours per week! You will become a part of a dedicated engineering team for a U.S. - based edtech startup - Runestone Academy!

About the Client and Product:
Runestone Academy is a non-profit organization offering free, interactive textbooks and resources to support students and educators in learning computer science and other STEM subjects. Their platform features coding exercises, quizzes, and interactive content, making it an engaging learning experience for both self-learners and classroom students. The goal of Runestone Academy is to democratize access to quality computer science education through technology.

Responsibilities:
  • Bug Fixes & Feature Requests: Assist in resolving platform issues and implementing new features based on requests from the community.
  • Support: Provide first-line support by answering emails from instructors and offering guidance through Discord and Google Groups.
  • Cloud Infrastructure: Monitor, fine-tune Cloudflare rules, and ensure smooth operation of the platform.
  • Book & Platform Updates: Build, push weekly updates to the Docker registry and server, ensuring the platform stays current.
  • Community Engagement: Actively participate in Discord and Google Groups to proactively address user questions.

  • Programming Languages: Python, JavaScript, SQL, CSS.
  • Frameworks: React.
  • Other Tools: Docker, Cloudflare, Linux Command Line.

    • Candidate Profile:
  • Experience Level: Strong Junior or Middle.

  • Skills: Proficiency in some of the following: Python, SQL, JavaScript, CSS, React, and familiarity with the command line.
  • Attribute: Self-motivated, proactive, and comfortable working in a collaborative online environment (Discord, Google Groups).
  • Flexibility: Understanding and experience of working in a startup environment.
  • English-speaking: Great level of verbal and written English - Upper - intermediate (B2 and up).
