Job description

As a Financial Systems Analyst V, you will be a key senior individual contributor helping to bridging IT and the interests of Hagerty’s Finance and Accounting team.   In this role you ensure the end-to-end data lifecycle for financial systems is effectively configured, maintained, and optimized to support the organization’s financial reporting, accounting processes, and overall financial analysis strategy. This role involves collaborating with Finance, Accounting, Treasury, IT, and other departments to ensure that financial data is accurate, accessible, and supports business decision-making.

What you’ll do
  

  • Identify, combine, and enrich data to design and develop measures and metrics for general ledger, financial reporting, and similar accounting and finance department needs.   
  • Actively contribute to the planning and execution of the accounting and finance data roadmap by creating development-ready requirements that include data source identification, data transformations, business rules, data validation rules, data reconciliation processes, data controls, and other requirements in collaboration with engineering, analytics, and business teams. 
  • Analyze financial processes and workflows, identify inefficiencies, and recommend system and process improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency. 
  • Provide ongoing support and training to finance and accounting users to ensure they can effectively use the financial systems and tools for their roles. 
  • Lead or participate in testing efforts for system upgrades, patches, and new implementations, ensuring that financial data flows correctly and aligns with business needs. 
  • Ensure the financial data system complies with relevant regulatory, audit, and internal control requirements, such as SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act). 
  • Write SQL code or use no-code query tools to query, transform, combine, analyze, and visualize data and prepare it for production release following best practices including debugging, versioning, documentation, and peer review. 
  • Evaluate emerging tools, technologies, models and methods to design data and analytic solutions to solve ambiguous and hypothetical business problems. 
  • Take reasonable measures to ensure accuracy, appropriateness, and completeness of data and method of analysis for the task, pursue problem identification and recommend solutions. 
  • Contribute to Hagerty by delivering work that achieves operational, functional, and/or business targets. 
  • Make decisions that have significant impact on your team’s outcomes, and you anticipate how your work affects your broader department results. 
  • Communicate with colleagues both inside and outside of your job area across various levels. 
  • Play a role in influencing others in neighboring departments to align on new concepts and/or approaches. 
  • Interact with external customers or vendors when needed.

  • Take responsibility for developing solutions and/or making improvements to products, processes, programs and policies. 
  • Working independently, you regularly lead the execution of multifaceted processes or projects. 
  • Use your judgment to deviate from typical approaches when new methods are needed and seek occasional guidance if novel or critical situations arise. 
  • Provide guidance and assistance to team members. 


 

This might describe you
 

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Finance, Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.  Equivalent relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. 
  • System experience with large general ledger applications preferably Workday but others like Oracle and SAP will be considered.  Experience specifically with Workday Accounting Center & Prism desired. 
  • Experience integrating with data analytics and warehousing tools preferably Snowflake. 
  • Advanced knowledge and skills using SQL or similar to query, combine, transform, visualize, and analyze data. 
  • Experience analyzing and developing data requirements for finance and accounting systems. 
  • Strong understanding of insurance accounting principles and financial reporting, including experience with general ledger, reconciliations, and financial close processes. 
  • Advanced knowledge working with transactional and relational databases. 
  • Strong decision-making and critical-thinking skills. 
  • Effectively present complex technical topics to non-technical and technical audiences at all levels.

  • This role can be worked from any U.S. remote location. 
  • Familiarity with public company requirements, including Sarbanes Oxley and key regulations, if applicable. For SOX compliant roles, responsible for designing, executing, and documenting internal controls where they have been identified as owners to prevent errors in financial reporting, processes, and business operations. Including attestation to the completeness, accuracy, and compliance of all financial reporting data, where applicable.
