Job description

About Us:

Hey! We’re The HOTH.

Our name stands for Hittem’ Over the Head – in other words, to bludgeon with awesomeness.

It can be used as a noun (as in our product, or brand), or as a verb (to HOTH someone or HOTH something). And it’s how our clients refer to one of the world’s top Digital Marketing companies.

Our mission as a business is to push boundaries, innovate, and have fun while doing it.

Our platform is evolving, and we need an experienced UX/UI Designer to take it to the next level. We believe that great design can make complex things feel simple, and it’s at the heart of everything we build. If you have a passion for intuitive user experiences and can blend function with beauty, we want you on our team.

About the Position:

As our UX/UI Designer, you’ll join our in-house team and assist with the complete redesign of our platform. Working closely with product managers, developers, and stakeholders, you’ll design intuitive, user-friendly interfaces that align with our business goals and enhance the user experience. From wireframes to prototypes, you’ll own the design process from start to finish, ensuring consistency and usability across every interaction.

This role is perfect for a designer with 3-5 years of experience in UX/UI design, a knack for creating smooth interactions, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Important Note:

This remote-friendly role is only available to U.S. residents living in these states:

Alabama, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Missouri, Montana, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wisconsin.

A Typical Day in the Life Might Look Like:
  • 35%: Designing user flows, wireframes, and prototypes that showcase how the platform looks and functions.
  • 25%: Collaborating with product managers, developers, and stakeholders to align design goals with business objectives.
  • 15%: Building and refining a design system to ensure consistency across all touchpoints.
  • 15%: Conducting user research and testing, then iterating on designs to reflect user feedback.
  • 10%: Creating high-fidelity mockups and UI specifications for the development team to implement.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Help lead the redesign of our platform, creating user-centered designs that deliver a smooth, intuitive experience.
  • Develop user flows, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes to communicate ideas and iterate based on feedback.
  • Create and maintain a design system to ensure a consistent look and feel across the platform.
  • Work closely with developers to ensure design specifications are implemented accurately.
  • Participate in user research and testing, using insights to improve the user experience.
  • Design interactive elements and animations that enhance the platform’s functionality and delight users.
  • Ensure all designs align with our brand’s visual identity and maintain a consistent aesthetic across the product.
What We’re Looking For:
  • 3-5 years of experience in UX/UI design with a portfolio showcasing successful web and mobile design projects.
    • Please link your portfolio in your application or on your resume if possible!
  • Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, or similar for creating wireframes, prototypes, and mockups.
  • Strong understanding of interaction design principles, user flows, and user-centered design.
  • Experience working closely with developers and ensuring design feasibility within front-end technologies.
  • Familiarity with responsive design principles and how they relate to HTML/CSS.
  • Ability to collaborate across teams and make iterative design adjustments based on feedback.
  • Strong visual design skills, including typography, color theory, and layout design.
  • Bonus points for:
    • Experience designing for SaaS platforms, e-commerce, or similar industries.
    • Familiarity with task management tools like Jira, Trello, or Linear.
    • Experience working in Agile environments and collaborating with developers during sprints.
    • A knack for creating high-performance design systems that scale as the platform grows.
    • Strong self-motivation and the ability to take initiative in a fast-paced environment.
Education:

A Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Interaction Design, User Experience, or a related field is preferred - but if you have the experience and skills, we still want to hear from you.

Perks of Being a HOTH Developer:
  • Work from home (yes, in your PJs if that’s your thing)
  • Flexible hours (somewhere in the 9-5 ballpark)
  • HOTH Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance coverage
  • 401k with a 3% match
