Job description

About Us:

Hey! We’re The HOTH.

Our name stands for Hittem’ Over the Head – in other words, to bludgeon with awesomeness.

It can be used as a noun (as in our product, or brand), or as a verb (to HOTH someone or HOTH something). And it’s how our clients refer to one of the world’s top Digital Marketing companies.

Our mission as a business is to push boundaries, innovate, and have fun while doing it.

We’re expanding our in-house team to tackle the future of AI-powered managed marketing services. We need a Full Stack Developer who’s excited to work at the cutting edge of AI, automation, and backend integration. Sound like you? Keep reading.

About the Position:

As our Full Stack Developer, you’ll take the reins on automating mission-critical workflows - the kind of processes that keep everything running smoothly for SEO campaigns, content management, and customer orders. You’ll build Python tools, design APIs, and integrate LLM-powered agents to manage workflows that used to require hands-on effort from internal teams.

You’ll collaborate with product managers and AI engineers to develop automation workflows that pull SEO metrics, manage content orders, and even suggest next steps - creating a system that’s as reliable as it is intelligent. This is more than just development work, it’s about reimagining how we work through automation.

Important Note:

This remote-friendly role is only available to U.S. residents living in these states:

Alabama, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Missouri, Montana, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wisconsin.

A Typical Day in the Life Might Look Like:
  • 40%: Developing Python-based tools to automate manual tasks, from retrieving SEO metrics via SEMrush to placing customer orders.
  • 20%: Building and integrating backend systems and APIs to seamlessly connect LLMs, AI agents, and third-party services.
  • 15%: Collaborating with product managers, campaign leads, and AI engineers to align development tasks with business needs.
  • 15%: Troubleshooting AI agent behaviors and optimizing workflows to run smoothly and scalably.
  • 10%: Participating in standups to discuss progress, challenges, and how to keep automating faster and better.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and maintain a full-stack solution to automate business workflows using AI-powered agents.
  • Build backend systems and Python tools that leverage LLMs to streamline SEO management and other service tasks.
  • Create APIs to enable communication between backend services and AI models.
  • Develop frontend components (using frameworks like React or Next.js) to provide user interfaces for monitoring and managing workflows.
  • Collaborate with campaign managers, product owners, and AI engineers to gather requirements and translate them into technical tasks.
  • Integrate third-party services (like SEMrush) to power automated workflows.
  • Package and deploy production-ready AI workflows in self-contained Docker containers.
  • Write modular, scalable code following best practices, including unit testing and version control.
What We’re Looking For:
  • 3-5 years of full-stack development experience, with a strong focus on Python for backend development.
  • Experience with frontend frameworks like React or Next.js to create functional user interfaces.
  • Proficiency in developing and integrating APIs and working with third-party services like SEMrush.
  • Hands-on experience with AI integration and automation platforms, including tools like OpenAI and Microsoft’s AutoGen/Semantic Kernel.
  • Familiarity with Docker and containerization to deploy production-ready apps.
  • Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, and connecting backend systems with AI models.
  • Experience with Git for version control and CI/CD pipelines for smooth deployments.
Bonus Points For:
  • Experience automating workflows for SEO, digital marketing, or managed services.
  • Familiarity with multi-agent systems or AI-powered decision-making tools.
  • Proven ability to thrive in fast-paced, dynamic environments where you’ll take initiative and run with it.
  • Prior experience working within an Agile development team and following Agile methodologies.
Education:

A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred - but if you’ve got the skills and experience, we’re flexible.

Perks of Being a HOTH Developer:
  • Work from home (yes, in your PJs if that’s your thing)
  • Flexible hours (somewhere in the 9-5 ballpark)
  • HOTH Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance coverage
  • 401k with a 3% match
  • PTO for vacations, sick days, and holidays
  • A monthly wellness stipend ($600 per year to keep you feeling your best)
