Job Description
 

Gilead's mission is to discover, develop, and deliver therapies that will improve the lives of patients with life-threatening illnesses worldwide. The Associate Director, Leadership Development, will support and be accountable for strategic development, implementation, and oversight of the Leadership Curriculum related to the development of the commercial teams.  In this role, they will partner with relevant internal departments, including Sales (Management, Field Sales, Regional Trainers), Marketing, Commercial Operations, and Business Conduct. There will be a heavy emphasis on supporting the aspiring Leader Development Programs and advanced skill development, helping assess needs through GAP Analysis and other forms of measurement and inclusion. Other responsibilities include being accountable for supporting appropriate procedures, systems, and scheduling of events, schedules, and infrastructures to support training operations. Leads by example, respecting and understanding Gilead’s core values.

This role is Remote eligible.

The successful candidate should possess the following:

  • Acts as a strategic learning partner for various functions within the Commercial organization.

  • Effectively partner with commercial functions to comprehend their business, associated roles, and learning and development needs.

  • Understand the business strategy and challenges and design Learning Strategies to address these needs.

  • Manage and define learning expectations and ensure effective implementation and delivery of learning solutions, enhancing capability and tangible business results.

  • Support and help design content that leverages current and future competencies, skills, and knowledge to achieve business objectives.

  • Effectively establish, deepen, and sustain key relationships with functional stakeholders to understand business needs and related performance gaps and demonstrate an understanding of processes and methodology to provide appropriate learning solutions.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define desired performance outcomes and the required behaviors, skills and knowledge needed by different roles to deliver them.

  • Work in partnership with other corporate training teams to align learning and development activities with developing and implementing leadership programs and tools and to build and enhance organizational capability as appropriate.

  • Excellent project skills in training, performance management, planning, prioritization, objective setting, meeting management, and plan execution.

  • Interview and conduct need assessments with stakeholders around learning strategies while collaborating across commercial functions to leverage existing and/or develop learning solutions to meet unique business requirements.

  • Ability to plan and manage instructional design projects and promote collaboration, partnerships, and relationships among the participants in a design project.

  • Ability to analyze the characteristics of the business environment and challenges to formulate, develop and execute training strategy.

  • Analyze the characteristics of existing and emerging technologies and be able to apply them within instructional design.

  • Apply fundamental research skills to instructional design projects.

  • Select, modify, or create a design and development model appropriate for a project.

  • Directly responsible for driving stakeholder satisfaction for their function/division.

  • Demonstrates flexibility in approach to ensure the best allocation of people/skills/resources across Learning and Development projects.

  • Monitor and maintain alignment with the Commercial group’s strategic training plan while balancing short-term and long-term business goals.

  • Be active listeners and team players and maintain a positive outlook. Have the willingness and humility to support and achieve shared goals and objectives within the CL&D team.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree and Eight Years’ Experience

OR

Masters' Degree and Six Years’ Experience

OR

Ph.D.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 2 years of successful Management in Pharmaceutical/Biotech Industry

  • Masters, MBA plus 6 years relevant experience

  • 2 years of experience in commercial training or health education experience; training leadership and project management leadership experience

  • In-depth knowledge and experience in specialty therapeutics market is ideal


 

The salary range for this position is: $173,910.00 - $225,060.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans*.
