Job description

Technical Writer

The Opportunity:

Are you interested in using your technical expertise and people skills to assist a public health client in their mission to establish a modernized data presence? Our team is looking for a technical writer who can work alongside subject matter experts (SMEs) to develop clear and helpful technical documentation that both our team and customers can use in their efforts to support this modernization goal.

As a technical writer on our team, you will be responsible for collaborating with data scientists, developers, and others to develop and publish technical documentation. You will work on a diverse range of documentation, from data platform services to artificial intelligence (AI) writing. We need someone who can help our team members translate complex technical subjects and processes into accessible and well-structured guidance material. You must be able to use your writing skills to assist readers in making connections between granular concepts and big picture ideas. Outside of just writing, you will need to be an excellent communicator as well. Being able to facilitate discussions between SMEs and leadership is vital to ensuring that the documentation we produce to both our clients and team members is meaningful and professional. You should also be capable of effectively coordinating with SMEs across teams on any concerns or questions related to deadlines, documentation, or similar matters.

On our team, you’ll perform responsibilities such as creating and maintaining technical documentation for client projects, including user manuals and resource guides, collaborating with SMEs to gather information and ensure accuracy of technical content, and reviewing and editing documentation for grammar, clarity, consistency, and adherence to program standards. You’ll also manage multiple documentation projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines, conduct research as needed to understand new technologies and industry trends, and participate in cross-functional teams to develop and implement documentation processes and standards. Communicate effectively with project stakeholders to gather requirements and provide updates on documentation progress, and continuously improve documentation processes and tools to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Join us. The world can’t wait.

You Have:

  • 3+ years of experience with technical writing or documentation
  • Experience gathering and converting data into a written narrative, including technical manuals, standard operating procedures, and policies
  • Experience translating complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and easy-to-understand documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience using Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and graphics tools to style, format, and layout technical documents
  • Ability to collaborate with technical SMEs
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination based on client requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree

Nice If You Have:

  • Experience writing technical training documentation related to AI, Azure services, or similar subscription-based application services

  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies or DevOps
  • Ability to meet deadlines under tight time constraints
