Job description

Datadog’s Writing team is the public voice of Datadog. Our team of technical content writers and editors runs two of Datadog's blogs, The Monitor and Engineering. We value accuracy, technical depth, and accessibility. We are looking for a Senior Technical Content Editor to work with stakeholders across the company to create in-depth, compelling, and engaging content for our readers, a highly technical audience of engineers and developers.

At Datadog, we place value in our office culture—the relationships and collaboration it builds and the creativity it brings to the table. We operate as a hybrid workplace to ensure our Datadogs can create a work-life harmony that best fits them.

What You’ll Do:

  • Work closely with engineers and other stakeholders to develop and provide deep editorial feedback on blog posts for our Engineering Blog that tell earnest stories about interesting challenges and how we solved them.
  • Collaborate with engineers, other editors, and graphic designers to maximize the clarity, technical correctness, and visual appeal of our articles
  • Mentor writers and other editors to help them develop their skills and confidence in conceiving and developing new content
  • Help identify and source new blog post topics that showcase Datadog's engineering culture and expertise
  • Continually measure reader engagement, and iterate to improve content focus, craft, and distribution
  • Actively assesses team processes and workflows to identify improvements

Who You Are:

  • You have a minimum of 5 years experience as an editor and/or writer in the technology industry for an engineering audience, with samples of your work to share
  • You are able to craft superior, technically precise prose and elevate the work of your colleagues to a similar level. This includes improving the quality of the writing itself, as well as identifying technical passages that need clarification, revision, or deeper exploration
  • You are up to date on the latest trends in the cloud monitoring space and are constantly coming up with and pitching new story ideas
  • You are familiar with modern web application development methods, container platforms, cloud services, and other infrastructure technologies

Benefits and Growth:

  • The opportunity to grow our team and continue to foster a positive culture within a fast-growing company
  • New hire stock equity (RSUs) and employee stock purchase plan (ESPP)
  • Continuous professional development, product training, and career pathing
  • Intradepartmental mentor and buddy program for in-house networking
  • An inclusive company culture, ability to join our Community Guilds (Datadog employee resource groups)
  • Access to Inclusion Talks, our Internal panel discussions
  • Free, global mental health benefits for employees and dependents age 6+

Benefits and Growth listed above may vary based on the country of your employment and the nature of your employment with Datadog.
