Job description

The Infusion Nurse is responsible for providing patients with treatment and education for home health care issues. Responsibilities of a home care nurse include observing, assessing and recording patient symptoms, reactions, progress and conducting patient education. Nurses are responsible for administering treatments and performing therapeutic procedures.


Responsibilities

  • Use the nursing process to plan and provide patient/family care. This includes assessing and evaluating needs and implementing effective care plans which are kept up to date, evaluated and documented.
  • Coordinate patient care activities and maintain communication with other disciplines including nursing agency, pharmacist and physician.
  • Educate the patient/family about the patient’s care needs and disease prevention.
  • Follow appropriate infection control measures.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records according to policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to ethical nursing standards.
  • Responsible for complying with all policies and procedures.
  • Flexibility to complete as many or as few patient visits as needed for the business requirements at that time.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Skills & Abilities

  • Care of peripheral and central lines
  • Ability to set priorities and organize work
  • Knowledge of medications, indications, dosage ranges, side effects and potential toxicities
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems that arise in IV therapy
  • Proficient computer skills in Windows, Excel and other related software
  • Exceptional standards of patient communication and care
  • Ability to work accurately and quickly under pressure
  • Continuous education of developments in fields of nursing and infusion therapy
  • Meets State Board of Nursing, other regulatory agencies, and accreditation agency’s requirements
  • Knowledge of home health care and IV therapy is a plus.


Requirements

  • Registered Nurse with active license by the state of Florida
  • Current CPR certification
  • At least 1 year of recent medical surgical, home health, procedural, or critical care experience
  • Valid Florida driver’s license, active insurance and reliable vehicle
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Suite and medical charting
