The Usage and Insights team is part of the In-Life domain, whose mission is to build amazing customer journeys to create a seamless and enjoyable user experience to power our Plan zero mission. The Usage and Insights team’s specific mission is to keep our customers informed of how they are using their energy, on both app and web, and providing insights into where they might be able to make positive changes benefiting both them and the planet, a crucial part of OVO’s Plan Zero.
This role in a nutshell:
We are looking for a highly skilled Full Stack developer with an emphasis on front end skills to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in front end technologies such as React Native and React, while also possessing the ability to work on back end systems when required.
You will work in a team of 6 engineers, plus UX/design, product, data, and metrics colleagues, covering front end and back end work in the Usage and Insights team. We have a very strong engineering culture that’s all about empowerment and ownership: all to solve one of the world's biggest challenges.
Your key outcomes will be:
- Work closely with your line manager (Software Engineering Manager) to help drive the roadmap for future work
- Align work with the other teams in the domain to support them
- Align work with any product requirements from the business
You’ll be a successful Software Engineer at OVO if you…
- Are an expert in React Native / JavaScript / TypeScript / Web Technologies
- Have strong experience working on backend with TypeScript designing and implementing robust, scalable and secure user journeys and systems
- Experience with RESTful/GraphQL API design and implementation
- Experienced with Node.js would be a bonus
- Have strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Love writing scalable, resilient, performant code
- Have familiarity with cloud platforms and services (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Have experience with continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) practices.

We’ll pay you between £55,770 and £74,000, depending on your specific skills and experience.
We keep our pay ranges broad on purpose to give us, and you, flexibility to match your experience to our zero carbon mission.
You’ll be eligible for an on-target bonus of 15%. We have one OVO bonus plan that focuses on the collective performance of our people to deliver our Plan Zero goal.
