About The Role

The Sr. Director, Growth Finance is a pivotal role at the company serving as the strategic finance partner to executive leadership in Marketing & Sales who are responsible for driving profitable growth through the acquisition of supply for The RealReal marketplace. You will be responsible for leading the financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis functions of these functional areas. This role involves providing strategic financial insights, supporting decision-making processes, and driving financial performance. The Sr. Director will work closely with the executive team, business leaders, and finance teams to ensure alignment between financial goals and business objectives. This role reports into the SVP, Finance and will partner closely with the Chief Marketing Officer, SVP of Sales Operations, as well as the Chief Merchandising Officer (as needed). You will need to be comfortable working in a dynamic data-driven environment and presenting to the executive leadership team.

What You Get To Do Everyday

  • Act as a strategic thought partner to Sales and Marketing executive leadership helping them identify, evaluate and select strategic options that drive growth and unlock profitable supply for The RealReal marketplace.
  • Provide insightful financial analysis, including variance analysis, scenario modeling, and business case development to support strategic decisions.
  • Partner with business, finance & analytics teams to ensure data driven decisions making by developing and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the financial health of the company. Provide clarity around business drivers and recommendations to improve performance.
  • Prepare and present financial reports to your business partners, their teams and other key stakeholders. Ensure transparency and accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Oversee the annual budgeting process, long-term financial planning, and quarterly forecasting. Ensure accurate and timely financial projections
  • Collaborate across functions and data analytics to tell a compelling story and interpret a complex business
  • Lead and/or participate in projects to improve financial planning processes, systems, and tools to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship and development to a small team of direct reports.

What You Bring To The Role

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Economics, Finance, or Mathematics; MBA or other advanced degree a plus
  • 10 + years of work experience, preferably in Finance, Investment Banking or at an Investment Firm
  • Strong Excel, PowerPoint and Google Apps skills, experience in automation in Excel and/or Google Sheets preferred
  • Strong written and spoken communication skills; ability to connect with team members and convey technical financial information to non-financial professionals
  • Ability to work collaboratively across different functions and diverse personalities
  • Desire to work in a fast paced and rapidly changing environment
  • Self motivated and strong work ethic with a desire to make an impact
  • Ability to Travel up to 10% to warehouse facilities, and San Francisco HQ as needed

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience in management consulting or in an operationally complex business
  • NetSuite, Adaptive Planning and/or Looker experience is a plus

The expected salary range for this role is $190,000-$230,000. To determine starting pay we carefully consider a variety of factors, including primary work location and an evaluation of a candidate’s skills, experience, market demands, and internal parity. Additionally, salary is just one component of TRR’s total rewards package. Depending on role, employees may also be eligible for a bonus program, incentive pay and benefits.
