Job description

Job Overview

As a Sales Market Manager specializing in Municipalities, you will be instrumental in driving the acquisition of new clients and broadening our influence within the Municipal vertical. Your primary objective will be to showcase our extensive portfolio of offerings, thereby fostering strong relationships with both prospective and existing clients to stimulate substantial sales and business expansion. Leveraging your expertise in environmental sustainability, you will assist schools, cities, and public entities in their journey towards cleaner, sustainable energy solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Business Development:
    • Identify and engage potential clients within the Municipal vertical market, which encompasses state and federal agencies, major cities, towns, and water treatment facilities.
    • Formulate and execute strategic sales plans to achieve sales objectives and revenue targets, utilizing market research and competitive analysis to pinpoint growth opportunities.
    • Establish and maintain a strong sales pipeline through diverse channels, including marketing qualified leads (MQLs), sales qualified leads (SQLs), networking, referrals, and proactive outreach efforts.
  • Solution Selling:
    • Perform comprehensive needs assessments with prospective clients to evaluate their energy consumption, sustainability goals, budget limitations, and financial objectives.
    • Inform clients of the advantages of our solutions, such as community solar programs, energy efficiency initiatives, engineering projects, carbon tracking, sustainability training, and energy procurement strategies, highlighting the long-term benefits and environmental impact.
    • Tailor proposals and presentations to meet clients’ unique requirements, addressing concerns and underscoring the benefits of clean energy solutions.
  • Relationship Management:
    • Develop and maintain robust relationships with clients, fostering trust through clear communication, timely follow-ups, and superior customer service.
    • Act as a trusted advisor, providing ongoing support and guidance throughout the sales journey, from initial engagement to project execution.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including subject matter experts, engineers, sales support, operations, and customer service representatives, to ensure effective coordination and delivery of clean energy projects.
  • Market Insights and Feedback:
    • Keep abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies in the clean energy sector, particularly in the education and public sectors, sharing pertinent insights with internal teams.
    • Record all sales activities in the CRM and deliver regular reports on market dynamics to sales management, contributing to data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement efforts.
Required Skills

  • Proven track record of success in sales or business development, ideally within the energy, clean energy, renewable energy, or sustainability sectors.
  • Strong comprehension of clean energy technologies, energy efficiency principles, and environmental sustainability concepts.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging and influencing diverse audiences, including clients, colleagues, and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to juggle multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and operate independently in a dynamic, results-oriented environment.
  • Proficiency in CRM software, Microsoft Office suite, and other sales productivity tools.
  • A passion for environmental stewardship and a commitment to driving positive change through energy solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, marketing, environmental science, or a related field (equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of formal education).
