Job Overview

We are currently in search of a seasoned Internal Audit Control Manager with a strong focus on compliance and internal auditing within the banking and mortgage servicing sectors. This critical individual contributor position involves ensuring comprehensive audit coverage of applicable federal, state, and GSE regulations. You will be responsible for maintaining a compliance matrix and supplying essential insights to audit teams on consumer compliance regulatory relevance, thereby enhancing our risk management efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and revise regulatory compliance matrices to ensure conformity with federal, state, and GSE mandates through quarterly updates.
  • Provide compliance guidance during internal audits and various assigned initiatives, contributing significantly to validation endeavors.
  • Collaborate with audit teams to determine necessary compliance coverage for audits.
  • Develop testing procedures for regulatory requirements and evaluate regulatory audit findings.
  • Participate in compliance change management meetings to remain updated on departmental activities.
  • Deliver compliance training to departmental personnel, nurturing a culture of accountability and understanding.
  • Propose constructive recommendations aimed at refining audit processes and methodologies.
  • Engage in the annual risk assessment process and assist in executing the annual audit plan.
  • Support special projects as assigned by management and oversee audit engagements, ensuring adherence to corporate policies and industry best practices.
  • Cultivate robust working relationships with business process owners and management, promoting open dialogue regarding emerging control challenges.
  • Assist in ongoing analysis of risk trends to guarantee sufficient audit coverage.
  • Stay abreast of evolving regulatory changes and market developments that could impact the business.
  • Contribute to the development and application of automation tools to enhance the audit process and improve analytics and reporting capabilities.
  • Make informed, independent decisions while weighing compliance and operational risks, safeguarding our organization’s integrity.

  • Proficiency in compliance risk management principles and frameworks.
  • Strong project management and organizational capabilities.
  • Excellent analytical acumen and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex issues in a clear and convincing manner.
  • Proven ability to forge strong relationships and collaborate effectively in teams, while also demonstrating the capability for independent work.
  • Excellent time management skills and adaptability to rapidly changing environments.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is essential, with advanced degrees or certifications (CPA, CIA, CISA, CRCM, CAMS, MBA) being preferable.
  • A minimum of 7 years' pertinent experience in internal auditing or compliance, with a solid grasp of regulatory processes in the mortgage servicing industry.
  • Certification as a Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM) is recommended.
