We are actively seeking an accomplished and meticulous Mortgage Underwriter to become a vital member of our exceptional team. Key Responsibilities

• Thoroughly review and evaluate residential mortgage loan applications to determine eligibility for approval or denial.
• Analyze financial statements, credit reports, debt-to-income ratios, appraisals, title reports, and other relevant documentation.
• Validate income and employment details while assessing the worth of collateral and assets.
• Ensure that loan submissions adhere to Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, VA, and USDA guidelines based on automated findings.
• Evaluate mortgage loan documentation to confirm compliance with established investor standards.
• Verify that property specifications and loan terms correspond with financial institution requirements and governmental regulations.
• Maintain compliance with industry standards as well as state and federal laws and disclosure mandates.
• Effectively communicate loan decisions to internal lenders, coordinators, and processors.
• Document the grounds for loan approval or denial within the loan file.
• Operate primarily in a remote capacity, with occasional office attendance based on business needs (prior notice will be given).
• Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.
  
  

Required Skills

• Comprehensive understanding of mortgage underwriting processes and agency guidelines (FHA, VA, USDA, Conventional).
• Solid working knowledge of USDA regulations.
• Familiarity with ATR/QM requirements.
• Experience with Encompass Loan Origination System (LOS).
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Uphold high integrity standards and a strong work ethic.
• Adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while consistently meeting production targets.
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or a suitable combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of recent retail residential Mortgage Underwriting experience, encompassing FHA, VA, USDA, and Conventional loans.
• Possession of DE, SAR, and LAPP certifications is advantageous.
• Familiarity with compliance and disclosure requirements.
• Understanding of closing, post-closing, and quality control responsibilities.
• Preference will be given to candidates located in EST time zones.
