Job Overview

We are excited to announce an opportunity for a seasoned Software Development Project Manager/Product Owner to spearhead our dedicated team working on the COSMIC software application. COSMIC is a crucial tool designed to monitor Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) utilized at NASA’s Johnson Space Center (JSC). The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in steering complex, work order-driven projects and demonstrate significant expertise in Agile project management methodologies. This role necessitates direct collaboration with NASA and various prime contractors to ensure timely delivery of enhancements and ongoing support for the COSMIC application.

Key Responsibilities

As the Project Manager/Product Owner for COSMIC, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and guiding the COSMIC development team in executing enhancements and solutions for GFE tracking at NASA and JSC.
  • Serving as the chief liaison between internal teams and external partners, including NASA and prime contractors.
  • Collaborating closely with NASA/JSC clients to gather requirements, manage expectations, and communicate project progress.
  • Translating high-level customer requirements into actionable Epics and Issues for the development team.
  • Overseeing daily operations and setting team priorities within an Agile project management framework.
  • Ensuring that project objectives, deliverables, and timelines are met with efficiency.
  • Preparing and presenting project updates to both internal leadership and NASA management.
  • Participating in regular on-site meetings at Johnson Space Center as necessary.
  • Acting as an internal quality control measure for the project.
  • Managing project scope and adjustments as they arise.
  • Engaging in weekly management meetings with the client to discuss progress, challenges, and strategic planning.
  • Reporting on project success criteria, metrics, testing, and deployment management activities.
  • Providing consistent status updates concerning project milestones, deliverables, dependencies, risks, and issues, ensuring transparent communication with both the client and internal leadership.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience in product or project management roles, particularly in software development.
  • Profound understanding of Agile methodologies and work order-driven processes.
  • Familiarity with GitLab for project management is essential.
  • Proven track record in leading cross-functional teams within a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, capable of effectively presenting to high-level stakeholders.
  • Experience with NASA or government contracting is preferred.
  • Knowledge of cloud-based software development processes is advantageous.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required due to the nature of NASA contracts.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead a fully remote team.
  • Self-motivated and proactive.
  • Experience deploying cloud-native solutions on GCP (preferred) and/or AWS is a plus.

Qualifications
