Job Overview

We are looking for a committed ESL Instructor to deliver instruction to students at the Beginning and Intermediate levels. In this remote position, you will partner with the Student Retention & Basic Skills Specialist to ensure the needs of each student are met through meticulous record-keeping of student performance, including test scores, progress tracking, and attendance records. Your responsibilities will include designing lesson plans, managing records, addressing student inquiries via email or phone, grading assignments, and providing constructive feedback. Additionally, you will be tasked with developing course outlines and syllabi, while actively collaborating with the Student Retention & Basic Skills Specialist to connect students with relevant opportunities throughout their program journey.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver ESL instruction at the Beginning or Intermediate levels.
  • Collaborate with the Student Retention & Basic Skills Specialist to promote student success.
  • Keep precise records of student performance, inclusive of test scores and attendance.
  • Create and implement lesson plans and course materials.
  • Respond to student inquiries and provide timely feedback on their assignments.
  • Work alongside colleagues to ensure students are linked to pertinent resources and opportunities.

Required Skills

  • Proficient in MS Office, Zoom, and Learning Management Systems.
  • Strong communication skills with diverse and at-risk populations.
  • Excellent organizational abilities and attention to detail in record-keeping.
  • Experience in developing engaging lesson plans and course materials.
  • Capability to provide constructive and timely feedback to students.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Adult Education or a related field.
  • Minimum of two years teaching experience with English Language Learners (ELLs).
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish or Somali is preferred.

Compensation And Benefits

  • Compensation ranges from \(31.06 to \)33.76 per hour, determined by education, skills, and experience.
  • This part-time role includes accrued sick leave in accordance with the Healthy Families and Workplaces Act.
