Job Title: Medical Billing & Accounts Receivable Specialist - Remote

Job Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Medical Billing & Accounts Receivable Specialist to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for overseeing our revenue cycle, which includes managing insurance verifications, meticulous claim submissions, and ensuring the efficiency of patient billing operations. Your expertise will contribute significantly to the accuracy and integrity of our financial processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Verify insurance coverage and accurately document findings in our electronic health record (EHR) system.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to secure necessary documentation for claims.
  • Analyze electronic remittance advice (ERA) and reconcile patient accounts effectively.
  • Monitor unpaid or denied claims, executing appeals and resubmissions as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with the billing team to rectify errors.
  • Manage patient statements, settle outstanding balances, and oversee payment arrangements.
  • Engage in outbound communication with patients regarding overdue balances and payment plan defaults.
  • Address inbound inquiries from patients regarding their accounts through calls and emails.
  • Process patient credit balances and facilitate refunds where applicable.
  • Uphold patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations diligently.
  • Generate regular reports detailing billing activities, accounts receivable, payment trends, and claim discrepancies.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in medical billing software and EHR systems.
  • Comprehensive understanding of medical insurance billing, including deductibles and copays.
  • Strong multitasking abilities and effective time management skills.
  • Ability to maintain composure and communicate clearly under pressure.

  • Familiarity with the Valant EHR system is advantageous.
