As a corporate claims attorney you’ll actively partner with our Commercial Lines Claims Organization to advise and consult with claims personnel and leadership on the handling of claims involving high exposure and/or complex legal issues. You’ll be responsible for overseeing extra-contractual litigation against the company, risk analyses, and reporting. Additionally, on occasion, you may represent the interests of Progressive at mediation, arbitration, or in court, but not act as the attorney-of-record.

Must Have Qualifications



  • Juris doctor degree and a minimum of 5 years of legal experience, including complex civil litigation experience or related corporate experience.

    • Admitted to practice law in at least 1 state.

    Preferred Skills



  • Commercial insurance litigation experience, with a focus on commercial trucking litigation, complex coverage or extra-contractual litigation

    • Experience evaluating coverage and litigating disputes involving commercial general liability or business owners’ policies of insurance
    • Ability to be precise about identifying possible outcomes and assessing the probability of any of those outcomes occurring
    • Demonstrated ability or experience proactively engaging business partners and understanding business goals and metrics
    • Sound understanding of the litigation process and the ability to create effective, detailed and comprehensive legal strategies
    • Ability to perform a coverage analysis in multiple jurisdictions

    Compensation



  • $109,300 - $156,100/year

    • Gainshare annual cash incentive payment up to 40% of your eligible earnings based on company performance
    • Participation in our restricted stock units plan
