Job description

About The Company

Founded as a New England wireless telephone site development specialist, the company has grown into a national leader in design-build, site development, and all aspects of construction for both wireless infrastructure and electric vehicle charging stations. Their clients rely on their expertise and comprehensive turnkey services to deliver major network projects, and they've maintained their commitment to superior service throughout this growth, fostering a culture that values both innovation and the core values that have fueled their success.

The Opportunity

This Construction Manager position demands a highly collaborative and mobile individual. You'll interact extensively with colleagues within the Construction Department, company personnel across departments, subcontractors, and client representatives. Daily travel between project sites is mandatory, and the role requires frequent overnight travel (potentially extended stays) as well as weekend or night work to meet project deadlines. Site travel includes Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, and Kentucky. As a result, all applicants should live in North Carolina or South Carolina.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct pre-installation assessments, including thorough site evaluations, detailed photos, and comprehensive scope documents, and facilitate any necessary field surveys to ensure a smooth EVCI installation process.
  • Perform feasibility walks with stakeholders to guarantee a successful EV charging station project.
  • Serve as the on-site representative, acting on behalf of the company's clients throughout the EVCI station installation.
  • Assist in identifying, qualifying, and selecting qualified subcontractors for all aspects of the EV charger installation project, including site work and building trades.
  • Manage and monitor contractors to ensure the EVCI project adheres to the agreed-upon schedule, prioritizes safety, and delivers high-quality workmanship.
  • Work closely with contractors, architects, engineers, and consultants to develop cost-effective solutions (value engineering) for the specific EV charging station project. This includes reviewing and discussing design changes with stakeholders as needed.
  • Maintain positive relationships and act as a liaison for the client regarding federal, state, and municipal regulations, including city permitting and construction inspections. This ensures an expedited process and successful project completion.
  • Coordinate design and construction personnel to guarantee the accuracy of construction documents and confirm the EV charging station is built according to the approved plans.
  • Serve as a central information resource by participating in construction meetings, resolving any disputes that may arise between involved parties, providing ongoing project feedback, and coordinating the punch list and project close-out.
  • Manage multiple EV charger installation projects simultaneously. Constantly communicate with employees, vendors, clients, and local/government agencies (both in person and virtually).
  • Adapt to ever-changing priorities, project demands, and day-to-day responsibilities.
  • Perform other relevant duties as assigned, including attending meetings and preparing detailed reports as necessary, providing comprehensive information on the development and progress of each EV charger installation site.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Qualifications: 5-7 years of relevant field experience, an Electrician's certification, or a bachelor's degree in construction, construction management, or technology.
  • Valid Driver's License: A valid driver's license with a clean record is mandatory for travel between project sites.
  • Independent and Decisive Leader: A highly motivated and decisive leader with excellent interpersonal skills. Must ensure projects are completed accurately, on time, and according to client specifications.
  • Construction Expertise: Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Proven Construction Management: Demonstrated experience directing construction crews across various trades (mechanical, electrical, civil, and structural) within industrial settings is required.
  • Multitasking Master: Thrives in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Communication Champion: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Collaborative Spirit: Excellent interpersonal skills are key for constant communication with employees, vendors, clients, and government agencies (in-person, written, and phone communication). Able to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Tech-Savvy: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word & Excel) is required.
