Job Overview

We invite qualified candidates to apply for the position of Associate Attorney within our esteemed commercial litigation team located in Chicago. This role presents an exceptional opportunity for legal professionals eager to enhance their litigation expertise while managing a designated caseload in a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

As an Associate Attorney, your primary duties will include:

  • Engaging in diverse areas of commercial litigation, such as contract disputes, fraud, statutory violations, business torts, intellectual property litigation, product liability, professional liability, life sciences, employment law, and technology and cybersecurity matters.
  • Overseeing case files and performing comprehensive legal research.
  • Drafting a variety of legal documents and conducting investigations to ascertain pertinent facts.
  • Participating in hearings, depositions, mediations, and trials, thereby contributing to all stages of the litigation process.

Required Skills

We are seeking candidates who possess:

  • A valid and active license to practice law in Illinois; dual licensure in other states is considered an asset.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in civil litigation, demonstrating skill in drafting pleadings, written discovery, motions, and other litigation documents.
  • Experience in taking and defending depositions, managing client communications, and a solid understanding of various aspects of the litigation process.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and advocacy capabilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • A demonstrated capacity to analyze complex legal issues and produce high-quality work.
  • A proactive mindset with a willingness to take charge of projects and responsibilities.
  • Familiarity with federal court procedures and a background in mediations/arbitrations would be beneficial.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant civil litigation experience; trial experience is highly desirable.
