Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Manager of Budget and Finance to join our esteemed institution, renowned for its commitment to academic excellence and diversity in higher education. This role will report directly to the Director of Administration and Strategic Initiatives, playing a crucial role in overseeing budgeting, reporting, and forecasting processes while collaborating with various organizational departments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of the multi-million dollar operating budget, guiding it through all phases from preparation to executive approval.
  • Manage the annual budget cycle, ensuring the timely completion of templates and inputs across campus.
  • Collaborate with leadership to prepare annual budgets and generate necessary reports for stakeholders.
  • Develop tailored financial reports for management and budget owners, providing insights on complex financial projects.
  • Establish processes for budget monitoring and approve financial transactions with department heads.
  • Advocate for budgetary needs and work alongside campus leadership to maintain the organization's financial health.
  • Ensure compliance with financial procedures and enhance internal control measures.
  • Supervise and mentor finance staff, promoting a collaborative team culture and providing training on financial processes.
  • Advise organizational leadership on key financial decisions and engage in strategic long-term planning.
  • Participate in financial system enhancements and audits, contributing to broader organizational projects.

Required Skills

  • Comprehensive understanding of financial accounting principles and compliance requirements.
  • Proven expertise in budget management and financial reporting.
  • Strong analytical capabilities and proficiency in accounting software, including Excel and Oracle.
