Position Summary

The Associate Director, Total Systems Safety reports to the Director, Strategy and Innovation. The work of the Total System Safety team will focus on the successful delivery of ECRI’s Total System Safety (TSS) program with our clients, and on the ability to identify prospective client needs where ECRI can develop new and refine existing solutions. The position is expected to have a strong understanding of ECRI’s business segments and contributions made across the organization and how they can contribute to innovative solutions which further ECRI’s mission, vision and strategic goal to be the global leader in reduction of preventable harm. This role will lead members of the TSS to take opportunities and turn them into results. It will be necessary for this individual to develop strong relationships across ECRI, enabling the coordination of efforts from various resources in many departments. The ability to execute assigned work and drive results for the team is key. This role requires being able to drive and lead projects and tasks to completion and to fully support new opportunities for ECRI. Demonstrated people leadership and team-building experience are required.

Essential Functions

Engage in and support the development of additional tools, resources and solutions for the Total System Safety portfolio.

Analyze and improve existing capabilities based on emerging market needs and client feedback.

Coordinate and lead day-to-day of new client consulting engagements, including facilitating planning, resource allocation and successful execution.

Actively engage with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate delivery on our commitments to our clients.

Identify opportunities to engage in presentations and collaborations to build ECRI profile as an innovator and thought leader in patient safety and human factors engineering.

Gather and analyze market information, and work closely with other team members to deliver results that provide for greater penetration across the provider market.

Actively contribute to development of new advanced safety solutions and other innovation offerings.

Work closely with colleagues across business lines to enhance or build on ECRI’s core competencies and seamlessly deliver our services to clients.

Collaborate with other departments in the development of other new initiatives and service lines which are primarily focused on patient safety and reduction of preventable harm

Facilitate discovery around customer business processes and related needs.

Create and assist in delivering presentations to prospective clients.

Work in concert with other team members in executing on new business opportunities in a manner that supports a transition from awareness to assurance through ECRI’s safety solutions.

Maintain a consistent focus on ECRI’s mission to advance effective, evidence-based healthcare through capture of and execution on opportunities.

Professionally develop, mentor and coach the Strategy and Innovation team.

Qualifications

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Experience

7+ years of recent leadership and managerial experience in transformational healthcare safety, clinical hospital operations or service line / department management.

Must be currently engaged in clinical and safety operations.

Experience driving clinical informatics and data analytics.

EHR proficiency.

Proven execution of new models and offerings in safety, quality and/or clinical operations.

Motivated, self-starter who is able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Team player who embraces organizational change and a fast-paced environment.

Highly organized, detail-driven and results oriented.

Thrives on problem solving and possesses solid critical thinking and analytical skills.

Professional verbal and written communication skills.

Hands On Experience Required – Not Managing But Actually Doing.

Proven ability to work effectively with resources across and organization in order to drive toward results and outcomes.

Ability to manage multiple projects with tight deadlines

Human factors engineering informed clinician grounded in principals of HFE preferred.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree required. Master’s in health administration or business administration desired.

This position operates in a remote environment and requires the individual to remain in a stationary position, whether sitting or standing, before a desk or other fixed workspace, most of their workday. In addition, this position requires the individual to occasionally move about their workspace to access and inspect work-related materials, such as file cabinets with physical files and standard office equipment. This position requires the ability to operate standard office equipment, including, but not limited to, a laptop, keyboard, mouse, webcam, and phone, as well as effectively communicate information and ideas to a wide variety of audiences in written and oral form.
