Location We operate a flexible, hybrid working environment with the candidate required to travel to either our Winchester or London office twice a week.

Leads the integration of test automation within the quality assurance processes, to improve testing efficiency and software quality. Manages a team of QA professionals, developing a robust test automation approach, and ensuring its successful implementation to complement and enhance manual testing efforts

The role

  • Accountable for providing final quality assurance of software engineering code quality
  • Through training and coaching, embeds test automation skills across the Engineering and Software Engineering teams
  • Develops and maintains a comprehensive test automation framework for software quality assurance
  • Oversees design, development and execution of automated tests for system functionalities and integration where possible
  • Selects and implements appropriate testing tools and frameworks
  • Tests, analyses and troubleshoots new software or hardware to achieve maximum performance and availability
  • Provides technical knowledge to the development and deployment of service infrastructure, driving improved technical and service performance
  • Designs and leads processes to facilitate smooth and seamless release of new services, products and iterations
  • Supervises the delivery of 3rd party testing suppliers and contractors to ensure that delivery specifications and standards meet Arqiva requirements
  • Documents engineering build procedures and contribute to the continuous improvement of policies, processes and procedures
  • Manages resources and timelines to ensure the timely delivery of testing and deployment, contributing to accurate forecasting and capacity management
  • Provides technical leadership within the team, sharing knowledge and skills and providing mentoring support to engineers and technicians

The person

  • Expertise in test automation frameworks and tools and proficient in programming languages relevant to test automation
  • In-depth understanding of testing methodologies and best practices
  • Knowledge of continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) practices
  • Strong knowledge of Testing enterprise solutions in high availability technology environments in both corporate and customer facing service platforms
  • Proficiency in managing projects, timelines, and resources
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to liaise with development teams, stakeholders, and other departments
  • Ability to identify, analyse, and resolve issues that arise during the testing and release phases
  • Keen attention to detail to identify bugs, inconsistencies, and deviations from the expected product behaviour
  • Ability to assess and mitigate risks associated with the release of new software versions
  • Proven experience in leading a QA or test automation team and extensive background in developing and implementing test automation strategies
  • History of working within cross-functional teams in a product-led environment
  • Track record of successful collaboration with software development teams to enhance test automation
