 The Role:

Syndax Pharmaceuticals is seeking a highly motivated and strategic Translational Sciences leader to direct the translational research strategy and science internally and with our academic partners and investigators across our programs. We are seeking individuals who are analytical, goal-oriented, and timeline-sensitive, while maintaining the highest of scientific and ethical standards. The Translational Science Lead is a key figure for advancing the oncology portfolio creating significant impact through the successful progression of global development programs and pipeline expansion, from early target assessment through life cycle management.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Represent the program status, scenarios, and trade-offs with senior leadership, internal stakeholders, and external stakeholders.
  • Support development of regulatory documents and HA interactions.
  • Engage external stakeholders including KOLs and key PIs; engage advisory boards in order to develop an effective program strategy.
  • Accountable for the integrated development plan for the Oncology program(s).
  • Develop a program budget in coordination with the program manager, finance and functional representatives; identify trade-offs.
  • Work with senior leadership to support late-stage development activities including endpoints for registration, patient reported outcomes, and health-economics.
  • Provides expert guidance to multi-disciplinary teams and the wider company.
  • Helps design operational strategies and creates a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Propose innovative methods and technologies and act as a scientific and business thought leader within the company and the broader scientific and medical community.
  • Responsible for the integrated translational sciences strategy directing the global, integrated, translational sciences activities by providing relevant expertise and leadership in precision medicine both professionally and scientifically.
  • Ensure an innovative, cutting-edge global translational science portfolio (from early to late development/life cycle management) by developing a patient-centric vision, setting up and steering strategic partnerships with technology providers and key opinion leaders.
  • In alignment with the overall oncology strategy, identify new opportunities for collaboration and manage excellent relationships with new and existing partners, both within as well as outside of Syndax to drive Translation Science excellence.

 

Desired Experience/Education and Personal Attributes: 

  • D. or equivalent advanced degree in the Life Sciences
  • Experience in oncology drug development including the transition of novel candidates from discovery through licensure.
  • Proven track record of successful cross functional program leadership or management supporting early- and late-stage programs through regulatory milestones (IND/BLA).
  • Strong ability to lead cross-functional teams; engage senior leadership, health authorities, and KOLs.
  • Ability to lead and drive projects from discovery to preclinical development, strategically focusing on clinical outcomes.
  • Strong scientific communication skills to diverse audiences and the ability to present the results clearly and concisely.
  • Exceptional organizational, project, and people management skills, demonstrating leadership informed by deep expertise and a commitment to innovation.
  • Ability to prioritize, be dynamic and flexible, yet highly productive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Scientific excellence: Demonstrated by a track record of relevant basic and/or translational research documented in peer reviewed publications.
  • Shows excellent communication and leadership skills, coupled with strategic thinking and foresight as well as outstanding business and external trends insights.

 

Location: Syndax has offices in Waltham, MA and New York City and has a dispersed workforce across the United States.
