Senior SQL Server DBA (Database Administrator) with Migration Expertise

Position: Senior SQL Server DBA

Location: Remote/flexible

Required Experience: Minimum 5-7 years as a SQL Server DBA

Work Schedule: Full-time

Role Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior SQL Server DBA to manage and maintain SQL Server databases, as well as lead and coordinate database migration projects. The ideal candidate possesses strong technical expertise in handling complex environments and planning database migrations, version upgrades, and performance optimization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Administration, configuration, and maintenance of SQL Server environments (SQL Server 2012 and later).
• Manage and plan SQL Server database migrations across different environments, including on-premise and cloud (Azure, AWS). Monitor database performance, optimize queries, and manage indexing to improve system efficiency.
• Execute data backup, recovery, and disaster recovery.
• Design and implement high-availability and replication solutions (AlwaysOn, mirroring, clustering).
• Provide advanced technical support and troubleshooting for SQL Server issues.
• Collaborate with the development team to support application optimization and ensure database management best practices.
• Ensure database security and compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Manage storage resources and monitor capacity.
• Create and maintain technical documentation.

Minimum Requirements:

• At least 5-7 years of proven experience as a SQL Server DBA.
• Extensive experience in managing SQL Server database migration projects.Deep knowledge of SQL Server versions from 2012 onward.
• Strong skills in performance optimization and query tuning.
• Experience with backup, recovery, and disaster recovery tools.
• Expertise in high-availability and disaster recovery solutions (HA/DR) such as AlwaysOn, clustering, and mirroring.
• Ability to work with performance monitoring tools (e.g., SQL Server Profiler, DMVs, or third-party tools).
• Experience with SQL Server in cloud environments (preferably Azure or AWS).
• Advanced knowledge of T-SQL and automation tools (e.g., PowerShell).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and team collaboration.
