Job Description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities

This position is a key member of the corporate tax group for Korn Ferry, a global organizational consulting firm, headquartered in Los Angeles, California. This position will report to the Sr Tax Director and will work closely with professionals across the organization. This role is 100% remote. Primary responsibilities include:

  • Preparation and management of all US State and Local income tax filings and preparation process.
  • Lead all state tax accounting processes including calculation of jurisdictional modifications, deferred tax assets/liabilities, valuation allowances, return-to-provision adjustments, apportionment, tax account roll forward and payable proof.
  • Indirect tax management including Sales and Use tax, Property tax, and Indirect tax compliance; actively address external and internal inquiries.
  • Assist and coordinate with other tax and corporate finance functions as needed
  • Coordinate with legal and payroll for state tax matters and registrations.
  • Actively manage and update the tax calendar and notice trackers for all state and local tax obligations and government inquiries.
  • Coordination of tax projects and supervision of external consultants as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with Sarbanes Oxley 404 tax related internal control requirements
  • Partner with business and finance leadership to execute state and local tax planning strategy and overall business objectives.
  • Support other corporate and business groups by providing general state and local tax support
  • Monitor current and proposed state and local tax law changes to identify and assess the impact(s) on the organization .

Professional Experience/Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • 5+ years tax experience with specialization in US State and Local income tax accounting and compliance.
  • 2+ years in a public accounting firm, remaining experience in industry, corporate or government
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of US State and Local income tax laws, with a solid working understanding of tax accounting pursuant to ASC 740 and familiarity with indirect tax laws.
  • Proficiency in Excel and experience with SAP, Avalara and OneSource Tax (OIT).
  • Strong functional and technical tax skills, organizational and interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven management of tax staff and projects, prioritization, and execution of multiple tasks.
  • Ability to manage external contractors and service providers.
  • Ability to work as part of a team while functioning with independent responsibilities.
  • A strong drive to improve functional results, strong decision-making abilities, and a desire to execute tasks flawlessly.
  • Ability to identify and define problems, collect, and analyze data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions with effective solutions.

EDUCATION

An undergraduate degree in accounting is required. A current Certified Public Accountant certification and a graduate level degree with emphasis in tax are strongly preferred.

Salary Range

$110,000.00 - $130,000.00

Salary range represents the compensation Korn Ferry expects to pay to a candidate with the requirements for the job posted. Korn Ferry offers competitive compensation and benefits commensurate with experience.
