What you’ll be doing...
As a Senior Engineer, you will be instrumental in designing, operating, and supporting network infrastructure for mission-critical applications within Verizon. You will work with both on-premises and AWS environments, ensuring robust and scalable networking solutions.
Design and implement computer and information networks, including local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), intranets, extranets, and other data communications networks.
Establish and manage secure on-prem to cloud networking connectivity using Customer Gateway and Virtual Private Gateway.
Perform network modeling, analysis, and planning, including capacity analysis for network infrastructures.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement network solutions that integrate on-premises and cloud environments.
Continuously monitor and optimize network performance for both on-prem and AWS infrastructure, ensuring high availability and low latency.
Automate network provisioning and configuration for AWS resources using scripting languages like Python and tools such as Ansible.
Implement and manage AWS VPCs, Direct Connect, VPNs, EKS clusters, BGP routing, and Transit Gateway to ensure secure and efficient connectivity.
Work with AWS endpoints, including Gateway Endpoints and Interface Endpoints, to optimize access to AWS services.
Troubleshoot network issues in production environments, providing automated fixes to reduce manual intervention and enhance reliability.
Create and manage standardized network configurations, security groups, and IAM roles within AWS.
Establish monitoring and logging solutions for network performance, security vulnerabilities, and compliance with governance requirements.
Research and recommend network and data communications hardware and software to optimize network performance and security.
Provide inputs to networking architecture and best practices, driving implementation efforts across teams.
Mentor junior network engineers and support their professional development in networking technologies and best practices.
What we’re looking for...

You thrive in collaborative environments, engaging with various stakeholders to create effective networking solutions.
You'll need to have:
Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of relevant work experience.
Four or more years of experience in networking, with a focus on AWS cloud networking and container networking (EKS).
Strong experience with AWS networking services (VPC, Route 53, Direct Connect, Transit Gateway, VPC Peering) and EKS networking configurations.
Experience in establishing on-prem to cloud networking connectivity using Customer Gateway and Virtual Private Gateway.
Proficiency in Python and/or Ansible for automation tasks related to networking.
Familiarity with AWS endpoints, including Gateway Endpoints and Interface Endpoints.
Experience in implementing network security best practices and governance in AWS environments.
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
Experience in high-performance, high-availability network environments.
Familiarity with network monitoring tools and protocols (e.g., CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana).
Experience with Check Point firewalls and BGP routing.
Cisco CCNA, AWS Advanced Networking, or equivalent certifications preferred.
Understanding of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices as they relate to network reliability.
Excellent communication and presentation skills for engaging with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
