We are seeking a strategic and results-driven Vice President of Engineering to lead and scale our engineering organization as we continue to innovate and drive our Core Technology Transformation. As a key member of the leadership team, the VP of Engineering will be responsible for overseeing the development, deployment, and continuous improvement of our product architecture, ensuring engineering excellence, and aligning technology initiatives with business objectives. This role will require strong leadership, a deep technical background, and a passion for fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic direction for the engineering team, ensuring alignment with the company’s product roadmap, goals, and overall business strategy.
  • Lead and manage the engineering team, ensuring clear and transparent communication, alignment with company goals, and effective performance management. Foster a culture of accountability, engagement, and motivation, ensuring engineers are recognized and supported in their roles.
  • Focus on the growth and development of engineering leaders and individual contributors, providing mentorship, feedback, and opportunities for career progression.
  • Partner closely with product, operations, data capture, sales, AI, and leadership teams to drive cross-functional alignment and ensure engineering efforts are delivering business value.
  • Lead efforts to continuously improve engineering processes, technology infrastructure, and tools, driving innovation and operational efficiency within the team.
  • Ensure that the engineering team delivers high-quality, scalable, and reliable products on time and within budget, meeting both internal and customer-facing deadlines.
  • Manage the engineering budget, including hiring, tools, and technology investments, ensuring resource allocation aligns with business priorities.
  • Create, drive, and report on OKRs and KPIs for the engineering team, ensuring alignment with company-wide goals. Track performance metrics, regularly assess progress, and adjust strategies to meet objectives effectively.
  • Approve and oversee detailed project plans, ensuring that deadlines are met while maintaining high standards of quality. Drive efficient execution across engineering initiatives, managing resources and timelines to ensure successful delivery.                                                                         
Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of experience in engineering management roles, with a demonstrated ability to scale teams and drive technical excellence.
  • 5+ years of experience in engineering leadership roles, managing large (30+), distributed teams across multiple time zones and countries.
  • Proven track record of scaling engineering organizations in fast-paced, high-growth environments, particularly within technology startups.
  • Experience leading and coordinating both full-time employees and contractors in diverse locations, ensuring effective collaboration across global teams.
  • Strong technical background with hands-on experience in software development, architecture, and system design, particularly within cloud-based environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire engineering teams, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and technical excellence. Proven experience in developing and mentoring engineering leaders.
  • Experience working closely with product management teams, aligning technology decisions with business goals, and delivering high-impact, customer-centric solutions.
  • Deep understanding of modern engineering practices, including Agile methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, DevOps, and building scalable infrastructure.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including product, design, operations, and executive leadership.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders and work collaboratively with executive leadership.
  • Experience in Drone, SaaS, and/or Geospatial Analytics industries is a plus.
