Job description

The Product Engineering team is dedicated to building features end-to-end, from designing robust data models to implementing subtle interaction behaviors that distinguish good software from great software. We closely collaborate with UI designers and are bolstered by our infrastructure team, aiming to delight users with both large new features and smaller, daily product enhancements—leveraging our continuous deployment architecture. You will join a team striving to create a superlative user experience, down to the finest details.

Joining our Vancouver-based team as a tech lead for the Login & Signup team, you will empower admins to manage their Asana deployment with the necessary compliance settings and controls specific to their company. This team ensures smooth user registration and secure authentication, catering particularly to enterprise account needs, such as single sign-on with Identity Providers like Okta, OneLogin, and Google SSO, along with multi-factor authentication. As part of a full-stack team, you will be working with a tech stack that includes TypeScript/React and some Scala. Together, you will aim to deliver a seamless domain setup experience for a variety of company types, aligning with the latest security standards and regulations.

This role is based in our Vancouver office with an office-centric hybrid schedule. The standard in-office days are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Most Asanas have the option to work from home on Wednesdays. Working from home on Fridays depends on the type of work you do and the teams with which you partner. If you're interviewing for this role, your recruiter will share more about the in-office requirements

What you’ll achieve

  • Lead a product engineering team, fostering technical rigor while balancing execution speed with quality.
  • Advocate for engineering investments that maintain system flexibility and adaptability to customer needs.
  • Inspire ongoing holistic improvements within the team, enabling high-velocity delivery while nurturing teammates' skills.
  • Employ cross-functional collaboration, partnering with Product Management, Design, Data Science, Customer Support, and User Research.
  • Make significant individual contributions by working across the entire stack, developing in Scala, JavaScript, and TypeScript.

About you

  • Extensive experience of 5+ years in software engineering with a background in leading product engineering teams.
  • Proficient in managing projects that are full-stack, involving both front-end and back-end web application code.
  • Ability to quickly transition between contexts and codebases to assist teammates in overcoming obstacles.
  • Extensive project management skills, including high-level timeline planning, risk mitigation, and stakeholder management.
  • Passionate about mentoring engineers across skill levels and providing valuable technical feedback for growth.

At Asana, we're committed to building teams that include a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills, as this is critical to helping us achieve our mission. If you're interested in this role and don't meet every listed requirement, we still encourage you to apply.
