See Yourself as a Internal Auditor
The Internal Auditor is responsible for collaborating in the successful execution of operational, compliance and IT audits, as well as advisory projects to support the completion of the annual audit plan. This responsibility involves all phases of the audit life cycle from research and planning through any follow-up items as a result of the audit being performed. In addition, the auditor will participate in other internal audit related initiatives and projects that contribute to the overall success of the department and organization.
Primary Duties And Responsibilities
- Actively participate in all aspects of audit activities for both assurance and advisory projects including risk assessments, audit planning, audit testing, control evaluation, report drafting, and follow up and verification of issue closure in partnership and close support of other senior team members.
- Participate in defining audit objectives and scope based on information obtained from management, understanding of business and/or IT functions, and organizational objectives.
- Collaborate in the development and execution of the audit plan including planning, testing, and reporting within stated deadlines and budgets.
- Manage assurance and advisory engagements and timelines efficiently and effectively
- Effectively communicate with management and Internal Audit team members timely to ensure successful collaboration throughout the audit process.
- Monitor status of completion of management action plans and collaborate with management to provide reasonable guidance.
- Continue to build and improve key skills to support departmental and personal development with an understanding of the business, emerging risks and industry changes.
- Maintain and continually develop competencies to improve the effectiveness and quality of internal audit services and purse continuing professional development through education and training.
Qualifications
Basic Education and Prior Work-Related Experience:
- Degree Requirement: Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Experience
- Work Experience: 2 or more years of prior work-related experience
Additional Qualifications
- Knowledge of IIA Global Standards, Sarbanes-Oxley, COBIT, and/or COSO is required
- Demonstrated experience with internal controls, risk assessments, business process and integrated internal control testing or operational auditing
- Ability to identify and evaluate business risks, internal controls which mitigate risks, and related opportunities for internal control improvement
- Understand business and information technology processes, environments, and risk management approaches
- Experience in identifying controls and developing and executing test plans
- Demonstrated critical thinking skills and ability to be agile in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to build and nurture positive working relationships with auditees with the intention to add value to the respective business or IT process
- Strong analytical, technical, verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to travel to our Wayne, PA and/or Cherry Hill, NJ offices as needed.
Other Qualifications, Including Any Special Skills, Capabilities, And Competencies
- CIA, CISA, and/or other relevant internal audit certification(s) or planning to pursue a certification
- Strong background in auditing techniques and/or control environments
- Strong writing skills, including an ability to effectively document operational processes via written word and workflow diagrams
- Strong organizational skills, including an ability to manage multiple activities with concurrent deliverables
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment in an effective and professional manner
- Looks for automation and technology opportunities; provides ideas so processes can be automated, improved, combined, or eliminated fully or partially.
- Experience with existing and/or emerging automation and analytics tools (e.g. Alteryx, Tableau, etc.)
