Responsibilities

This position will be responsible for producing compelling, audience-tailored content for state mandated material for CHIP and STAR product lines. Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Health plan’s collateral, website, presentations, bid responses, video scripts, direct mail campaigns.
  • The incumbent will need to contribute innovative ideas within a team environment and verbally execute them through all forms of media.
  • The ideal candidate for the writer position will be responsible for write, edit and/or proof a variety of internal and external communications that effectively target identified audiences based on the defined strategy.
  • Research concepts and provide thoughtful perspective/editorial on health-care issues relevant to Dell Children’s Health Plan and its members.
  • Work with internal clients and SMEs to gather, produce and vet copy for accuracy.
  • Work with the Marketing team to ensure copy tone and style are consistent with visual tone and style and that all copy inserted in layouts is accurate prior to release.
  • Work with the web team to routinely write and edit content for the Dell Children’s Health Plan website and social media pages.
  • Present concepts as part of the creative team to internal clients as requested.
  • Create and maintain specific writing guidelines to establish consistent brand message and consistent "voice" of the brand.
  • Understand the business, brand, products and customers.
  • Keep up to date on industry trends and marketing reviews.
  • Perform other position appropriate duties as required in a competent, professional and courteous manner.
  • Experience in HHSC Health-care Programs - STAR, CHIP, CHIP Perinatal, STAR Kids.
  • Prior experience as a complaint handler in the MCO industry, performing all duties described above.

Requirements

Education:

  • High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Bachelor's degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.

  • Bachelor's Degree, required.
  • 3+ years Health Plan experience - Medicaid STAR and CHIP, preferred.
  • 3+ years experience managing processes, preferred.
  • Understands claims/appeals is a plus.
  • Innovative and can embrace change.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Make independent decisions, where appropriate.
  • Strong communication skills: written and verbal.
  • Strong relationship building skills.
  • Able to perform job function with minimal supervision and work independently, taking initiative to.
