Director, Tech Program Management (F/X7/Manager)

In this role, the Director will manage large software development projects, lead a team of technical program managers, and work closely with architects and engineering leaders to ensure successful project completion. They will need a deep understanding of software architecture and contribute to architectural decision-making processes. Building strong relationships with stakeholders across Walmart, defining goals and deliverables for large-scale programs, and efficiently utilizing engineering resources will be crucial. Problem-solving and decision-making skills will be essential in navigating setbacks and obstacles. What you'll bring: 

Minimum Qualifications  

• A bachelor’s degree in computer science/engineering or equivalent.  

• 22+ years of overall experience and 15+ years of leadership experience as a Technical Program Manager in software delivery within a related industry managing aggressive schedules and significant business impact. 

• Strong leadership skills, with the ability to effectively manage and motivate a team of technical program managers and engineers. 

• Demonstrated track record of successfully managing and leading teams, setting clear goals, providing constructive feedback, and conducting performance evaluations to drive individual and team growth. 

• Exceptional ability to delegate tasks and responsibilities to team members, ensuring efficient project execution while maintaining accountability and fostering a collaborative and empowering work environment. 

• Experience supporting and executing a large software portfolio, collaborating with multiple business stakeholders. 

• Experienced in system/platform design concepts, architecture, technical design, services, APIs, and technologies. 

• Build positive relationships and collaborate with product managers to understand target personas and business process needs, which you will then translate into features and user stories that engineers will leverage to iterate products quickly. 

• Strong sense of ownership and accountability, with a love for data and solving complex problems. 

• Expertise in change & risk management methodologies, project management tools, techniques, project tracking tools, dashboards, and reports 

• Strong communicator in both verbal and written forms and are equally adept in communicating upwards, outwards, and downward. 

• Deep understanding of JIRA, JIRA Align, Big Picture, etc. would be advantageous. 

Preferred Qualifications  

• Masters in degree in computer science/engineering or equivalent.  

• 15+ years of experience as a Technical Program Manager in software delivery within a related industry managing aggressive schedules and significant business impact. 

• 10+ years’ supervisory experience leading cross-functional project teams.  

• 8+ years' experience in retail industry 

• Project Management certification.
