Position Title: Associate Director, Scientific Communication

Reporting to the Director, Scientific Communication. Responsible for leading the development of scientific content that empowers clinical decision-making and responsible for supporting strategic operational initiatives of the Scientific Affairs function.

Preferred Location: Remote – US Essential Duties and Responsibilities*
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining the SOPs relating to Medical Information and scientific exchange between Scientific Affairs Colleagues and healthcare providers.
  • Communicate and coordinate with internal subject matter experts, external authors, investigators, thought leaders and provide guidance to the scientific communications strategy.
  • Directs the coordination of meetings and discussions of cross-functional teams to develop a data education strategy and ensure all stakeholders are involved in the scientific resource creation process.
  • Support the execution of the scientific communications platform across medical information, publications, and interactions with the broader Scientific Affairs Team.
  • Co-develop with the Director, Scientific Communication the strategic plan as it relates to medical information/communications to improve operational efficiency and customer experience.
  • Support content and knowledge management for medical information/communications and broader Scientific Affairs function.
  • Direct Esperion Medical Information – including providing direction to the Med Info contact center vendor, guidance to escalated cases, and support development of medical information response documents [e.g., Standard Response Documents (SRDs), Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs), slide decks, MLR, MSRC, etc.].
  • Participate in Esperion review committees including: Medical Legal Review (MLR) and Medical Scientific Review Committee (MSRC).
  • Coaching and mentoring of Scientific Affairs interns and fellows.
  • Builds and maintains strong working knowledge of therapeutic areas of interest to Esperion including disease states, therapies, and competitors.
  • Collaborate with Global and other international colleagues to ensure scientific communications alignment.
  • Oversee internal training of scientific affairs, and other cross-functional partners as applicable, on medical information processes, product education, and competitive intelligence.

Qualifications (Education & Experience)
  • Bachelor’s degree in life science from accredited college or university required. PharmD, PhD, or other closely related advanced life-sciences degree, highly preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in pharmaceutical industry in medical information, medical/scientific communications or medical affairs operations.
  • Experience working with medical information/communication related databases/systems (e.g. Veeva Vault Medcomms, Veeva Vault Promomats, Med Info database, etc.)
  • Excellent written and oral English communication skills; strong presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated project management skills and experience working with and providing direction to external vendors.
  • Proven ability to adapt, organize, prioritize, and work effectively on multifunctional teams in a fast paced and constantly changing environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and to meet deadlines. Proven ability to work independently as well as within cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in meeting planning, organization, and management.
  • Highly proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, etc.)
  • Ability to travel – approximately 10-20%
