Key Responsibilities

• Communicate with payers to ensure prompt resolution of outstanding claims via phone, email, fax, and various online platforms.
• Uphold productivity and quality benchmarks as set forth in departmental guidelines.
• Leverage the MPower workflow system, client host system, and other resources to efficiently collect payments and address account issues.
• Adhere to established policies and procedures for both the team and its clients.
• Maintain awareness of timely filing deadlines for specific payers and initiate appeals when required.
• Identify and rectify medical billing discrepancies, ensuring accurate communication and documentation throughout the recovery process.
• Analyze and resolve challenges that may hinder payments from payers, proactively minimizing claim denials.
• Understand procedures for underpayments and credit balances and undertake special projects as needed, utilizing Excel to effectively communicate results.
  
  

Required Skills

• Minimum of one year of experience in insurance collections, particularly in submitting and following up on claims within a Medical Practice, Ambulatory Surgical Center, Hospital, or Medical Billing Company.
• Profee Medicare experience is essential.
• At least one year of experience in Physician/Professional Billing.
• Familiarity with the denied claims appeals process is preferred.
• Knowledge of Workers’ Compensation and Personal Injury Protection (PIP) is advantageous.
• Previous experience in Hospital/Facility or Physician billing is preferred.
• Extensive knowledge of individual payer websites, including Navinet and Novitasphere.
• Understanding of Medical Terminology, CPT Codes, Modifiers, and Diagnosis Codes.
• Strong ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
• Proficient in MS Office, with basic Excel skills essential.
• Experience with GE Centricity or EPIC PB is preferred.
