Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Tax Accountant to provide expert tax services on a project basis. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in tax accounting, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work independently. This will be a crawl, walk, run scenario as we continue to build out our tax services. This is the perfect opportunity for someone who loves doing taxes but doesn't want to worry about the admin work or prospecting

Responsibilities

Tax Preparation and Filing

  • Prepare and file complex federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and other entities
  • Ensure all tax filings are accurate, complete, and submitted by required deadlines
  • Review and analyze financial statements and records to identify tax savings opportunities

Tax Planning and Advisory

  • Provide strategic tax planning advice to clients to minimize tax liabilities and maximize savings
  • Stay current on tax laws, regulations, and industry trends to offer up-to-date guidance
  • Develop and implement tax-efficient strategies for clients' financial goals

Client Management

  • Communicate effectively with clients to gather necessary information and explain tax implications
  • Respond to client inquiries and provide clear explanations of complex tax matters
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships

Compliance and Quality Control

  • Ensure all work adheres to professional standards, tax laws, and regulations
  • Conduct internal reviews of tax returns and supporting documentation for accuracy
  • Assist with tax audits and represent clients before tax authorities when needed

Requirements

Qualifications
  • CPA license in good standing is preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master's degree preferred)
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in tax accounting, with a focus on complex tax issues
  • Extensive knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations
  • Proficiency in tax preparation software (e.g., CCH ProSystem fx, UltraTax, Lacerte)
  • Must have access to your own tax prep software
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
