Job Overview

Join our esteemed organization as a Mental Health Clinician, where you will be instrumental in providing support to individuals dealing with mental health and substance use issues. In this collaborative and multidisciplinary setting, you will work alongside fellow professionals to deliver exceptional care to patients in Methadone, Outpatient, and Federal programs. Your proficiency will be pivotal in guiding men, women, youth, and families on their recovery journey, while also engaging in community outreach initiatives to enhance our agency’s service offerings.

Key Responsibilities

As a Mental Health Clinician, you will:

  • Provide empathetic individual counseling services to patients across diverse programs, fostering a supportive and engaging atmosphere.
  • Maintain precise and current clinical documentation, including treatment encounters and billing, utilizing Methasoft and AVATAR EHR.
  • Conduct thorough assessments upon admission, including bio-psychosocial and ASAM evaluations, to ascertain the suitable level of care.
  • Manage a caseload of up to 32 patients, ensuring confidentiality and adherence to HIPAA regulations.
  • Collaborate with patients to aid their decision-making regarding assessments and access to care.
  • Engage respectfully with colleagues and patients, contributing to a positive treatment environment.
  • Participate in case management and assist with group therapy and psycho-educational sessions as required.
  • Remain informed about community resources and treatment alternatives available for clients.
  • Promptly report any potential crises or urgent matters to the Associate Director(s).

Required Skills

To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • A Master's degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or a related mental health discipline.
  • Current licensure as a mental health professional (e.g., LMFT, LCSW, LPCC) or registration with the Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) as an Associate (e.g., AMFT, ASW, APCC) while working towards licensure.
  • At least 2 years of post-graduate experience in mental health counseling is preferred.
  • Familiarity with evidence-based practices for treating substance use disorders and mental illness, as well as knowledge of risk assessment tools and trauma-informed care principles.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills, along with the ability to maintain comprehensive clinical documentation.
  • A current CPR certification and knowledge of relevant local, state, and federal employment regulations.
  • A valid California Class ‘C’ Driver’s License upon appointment.
  • Outstanding organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills, demonstrating a commitment to cultural sensitivity and workplace collaboration.

Qualifications

  • A Master's degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or a related mental health field is required.
  • Current licensure as a mental health professional or registration with the Board of Behavioral Sciences as an Associate is necessary.
  • At least 2 years of post-graduate experience in mental health counseling is preferred.

Compensation And Benefits

  • Pay: \(28.10 - \)31.60 per hour
  • Expected Hours: 10 - 12 hours per week
