Job Overview

We are seeking three (3) skilled Inpatient Coding Specialists to join our esteemed Health Information Management team at PostJobMatches By WorkStaff USA. This fully remote position is ideal for professionals with extensive experience in acute care coding, particularly within a Level II Trauma center. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the accurate assignment of ICD-10-CM diagnostic and procedure codes in compliance with CMS Official Guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately assign ICD-10-CM codes for various clinical encounters across multiple discharge departments, including Postpartum, Newborn, NICU, Cardiac ICU, and others.
  • Collaborate with Health Information Management leadership to fulfill all coding assignments for inpatient admissions.
  • Ensure compliance with CMS’ Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting.
  • Engage in the physician query process to obtain necessary clarifications regarding incomplete or ambiguous documentation.
  • Participate in initiatives aimed at improving coding quality and accuracy within the department.
  • Maintain current coding certification and stay informed about relevant regulatory changes.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years of inpatient coding experience is mandatory.
  • Profound knowledge of ICD-10-CM coding guidelines and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities.
  • Familiarity with AHA Coding Guidelines and Joint Commission documentation standards.
  • Proficient in utilizing CPT Assistant and HCPCS coding manuals.

Qualifications

  • Certification from AAPC, AHIMA, or a recognized coding credential (excluding apprenticeship classification) is required.
  • Experience working in an acute care facility or a Level II Trauma center is preferred.
  • Candidates must reside outside of CA, NY, NJ, CO, OR, and HI for remote eligibility.
