Job Overview

Join an esteemed renewable energy enterprise that is driving innovation in the development and execution of large-scale energy storage initiatives. With robust backing from private equity investors, this organization is leading the industry, having successfully amassed over 9GW of projects in a remarkably short timeframe and is currently in a thrilling phase of expansion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert in lease negotiations, land options, purchase agreements, easements/entitlements, and site control agreements for utility-scale renewable projects, including solar, wind, and energy storage.
  • Draft, amend, and negotiate all legal land agreements pertaining to utility-scale renewable projects.
  • Assist the Real Estate team with advanced title, survey, and mineral due diligence processes, encompassing research of land use requirements and restrictions.
  • Oversee the financial closure of renewable land development purchase and lease agreements.
  • Collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders, including outside counsel, involved in the land acquisition process and associated project financing legal initiatives.

Required Skills

  • Comprehensive understanding of land title issues, land mineral rights, and project development permitting processes relevant to real estate land acquisition strategies.
  • Proven proficiency in drafting and reviewing real estate documentation, including purchase/sale agreements, lease terms, and easements.
  • Strong background in land negotiations and significant commercial real estate transactions.
  • Expertise in site leases, purchase options, land permitting, and site control initiatives.
  • Familiarity with real estate-related financial closures and complex M&A transactions.
  • Knowledge of the utility-scale renewables (solar PV, energy storage, wind) origination and development process at various stages of the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 3 years of legal experience in large infrastructure land development transactions, preferably as a licensed Attorney/Counsel within a company dedicated to grid-connected utility-scale renewables development; experience at a recognized law firm is strongly preferred.
